By Alex O'Driscoll There is a certain mythological creature that possesses one truly amazing ability. It is not Pegasus, whose immaculate strength and beauty as a horse is compounded by his magical and stunning ability to fly with the wings of a mighty eagle, nor is it the everlooming Griffin. This creature is the phoenix, a mythical firebird from Ancient Egypt which is portrayed as a bird that dies in fire and is reborn of it. At the end of Season 7 in CricSim, a tough decision was made, this decision was for the Allstars CricSim Club to fold. Following seasons of camaraderie, teamwork and success, epitomised by their Grand Final successes in Seasons 3 and 6, it was agreed by the club, that for the success of CricSim and for the Allstars themselves, that it was beneficial to fold. Thus, one of the saddest moments in CricSim history occurred with the conclusion of the Allstars occurring with a four wicket loss to eventual premiers the Ravens in the final round of the Bannerman Shield. However rumours began to arise in Season 9 that a reformation of the equally most successful club in the history of CricSim was occurring and that the Allstars would be gracing the lush green Gunnstar Oval once again in Season 10, however these did not come to fruition and thus the 'Stars as they have always been affectionally known did not make a comeback. After only 6 rounds of Bannerman Shield cricket, the rumours are once again circulating that the Allstars will be back in S11 but yet again there has been very little about the whole saga from the Allstars themselves. However, the Allstars would like to make an official announcement that as of Season 11 they will be fielding the First XI 'Allstars in the Bannerman Shield and the 'Somestars' in the Avo Lovers Cup. As a part of the Allstars last starting XI I myself feel privileged to be a part of the newly reformed Allstars and look forward to a season where we rise from the Ashes and hopefully claim the Bannerman Shield for an unprecedented third time. In typical fashion, the guns from Gunnstar Oval are already setting their sights high for their return season, with the Allstars confident they can bounce straight back to their glory days. And perhaps so with good reason, as the returning favourite sons such as Billy Olsen, Rusty Downpipes, Jack Dempsey and Alec Funkotron combine with new Allstars such as Heath Davis and look set to combine to form an Allstars team that is reminiscent of the mighty sides they produced to claim premierships in Seasons 3 and 6 of the Bannerman Shield. So, with the return of the Allstars now being confirmed, it will be intriguing to see the reactions of all members of the CricSim community to the news, with the controversy associated with the Allstars sure to continue with rivalries reforming and disputes rekindling, the successes of the halcyon days of the 'Stars are sure to continue.
I was toying with creating an account by that exact name to post this story. Got lazy though, obv. Well done Alex.
