Easily the most exciting league in England this year & I'm not being sarcastic. So who's going up? My tips: Autos: Doncaster, Bournemouth Play-offs: Brentford, Sheff U, Swindle, Tranmere
Hope not, but they are sneaking up on us like a train. Only blind optimism has me sticking us in the final top six atm. Aye, almost as romantic as City's journey towards the Prem title
You wot, mate? They were on the brink of being chucked out of the league in 07-08 and then again in 08-09; they've stuck by their young manager (Cricsim favourite Eddie Howe) throughout that time. What's the problem?
Tongue in cheek mate, but they have spent big (in L1 terms) this season. Cracking rise up the table under Howe though. I've not actually seen them play this season (they were the first team to beat us, and are our last opponents) so have no comments on their style of play but to go on a run like they did takes some doing.* Even in L1 there is a definitive split of haves and have-nots though and Bournemouth definitely fall in the haves category nowadays. Widely preferable to a Coventry or Swindle, spending money they don't have and benefitting from it though. * I initially typo'd and wrote 'doping' instead of 'doing', considered leaving it in tbh.
seems a fair enough reason Definitely the most despicable club in English football though, when viewed objectively rather than through my parochial eyes
I've missed a lot then. When I lived down that way, they always seemed to be a week from going all Aldershot/Maidstone/Newport. Just hope they're not spending beyond their means as they're never going to attract huge gates. It's one thing I can commend Colchester on doing and that's surviving in the Football League within their very limited means. Those heady days of the Championship... Sigh.
Well, I was simply referring to the fact that the old stately Aldershot FC went bust and were thrown out of the League and that Bournemouth nearly went the same way.
They're getting better gates than us this season IIRC, which certainly wasn't the case a few years ago. And yeah, Col U do well to be competitive in League 1 on their crowds tbh. And getting into the Championship now is almost like it was getting into the Prem in the late 90s. Look at the names in that division, nearly all have Prem history. Mad to think we were on the brink of going up from the league when I was a kid. Never had it so good and doubt we ever will again.
