What is CPL Cricket? CPL Cricket is a game which will involve people selecting a squad of 13 cricketers based on forming a team that they feel would perform well if they were to play a match tomorrow. How will players be selected? Players will be selected through the process of a draft. This will involve everybody who is running a team being sorted into a random order. Each person will then take it in turns to select a cricketer for their squad until each team has 13 players. How do I know what players will be good? CPL Cricket is based on real life. As mentioned above you should aim to pick players that you feel would perform well if they were to play a match tomorrow. Player ability will be based upon the player's Test and FC record; with Test performances having more of an influence on how players will perform. Strength of opposition and the player's records against different team will also have an influence. What about retired players? You are picking a team that you think will perform well should they play a match tomorrow, this means that despite Bradman's incredible Test record he would average exactly 0 in CPL Cricket due to the very fact that he's dead. Recent performances will have more of an influence on player ability than those of years gone by. Players who have recently retired may still be of some use to your squad so if you are of the opinion that Shane Warne today > Bryce McGain today there is nothing to stop you picking Warney. (Provided he's not yet been selected by another team) What format is the competition? The matches will all be 5 day games, due to there being 16 teams there will be 2 groups of 8 teams. These groups will be sorted at a later date. Each team will play all of the other teams in their group once; every game will be played at the NRLM Oval so there is no home or away advantage in terms of pitch. The winner of each group will advance through to the Semi-Final automatically while the 2nd and 3rd placed teams will have a play off match to determine who else moves through to the Semi-Finals. The winner of the play-off match will face the winner of the other group. The winner of the Semi-Finals will advance to the final where 1 match will determine the winner of CPL Cricket 1. Any other questions?
How many teams will there be? I forget how many were in the original draft. There is a huge reasonalble player base.
I've got a maximum figure in mind but I won't just take teams for the sake of it but we need enough for a decent competition.
Lol I randomly installed its demo or something. I can only play England vs New Zealand from like 1998 or something Crap
Rob is sorting the database. Else i'd have an advantage in the draft process. He'll create each player individually and assign them to a team as they are drafted.
Interested to see how he comes up with the player abilities, and how much they're affected by current form.
