    Who is nerdykeen?

I reckon we should use Skype and something like roll20.net. I've read through the basics of 3.5e and 4e. I reckon since most of us are completely new we just use the basic DM guide/player's guide/monster manual to begin with.

I don't mind trying to be a DM, but I'll likely be pretty bad so if anyone else wants to give it a go put your hand up please.

    Nerds:
    Escath
    Weeman
    Steve
    Athlai
    Jabba
    Hunter

    Fake nerds:
    Cribb

Might be keen. How many people can play at once?

    4?

Obviously while I'd be keen to play, looking at the group at the moment I don't fit in very well in terms of timezones, especially through August when I'll actually be working, so I'm quite happy to sit out if needed.

Could probably manage six and a DM?

  5. Athlai JJD Heads

If Eskie is a DM he can have multiple games on the go.

  6. Skippos SM Morgan

Would be keen. Need to re-learn this stuff though.

Basic rules in 4e is 5 PCs + DM and I think 4 PCs + DM in 3.5e, but you can easily add or remove one or two people without too much trouble.

What are the major differences in 4e and 3.5e?

    Has anyone actually played?

I'd rather not DM more than one game at once, if at all, tbh.

Eds would be a good DM...

Need you pesky students to put the time and effort in here though.

Why don't you just create a room in raidcall?

I played a little bit while I was in Canada, with someone who knew what they were doing DMing and the rest of us pretty much clueless.

From my limited knowledge combat rules are much more specific in 4e and the combat grid is much more important since every class has powers that have specific parameters and effects. On the other hand, roleplay rules are much more specific in 3.5e. I've read heaps of people saying the main difference behind their design philosophy was that they wanted 4e characters to be much more powerful than 3.5e characters were.

All time low for CricSim. :p

If you checked all of our character sheets I think you'd find everyone in here rolled higher in charisma than you Cribblet.

For reasons that should be obvious, Cribb the Insensitive, known also as Cribb the Dickish and Grandpa the Flatulent, was not invited.

And parents across all the lands breathed a sigh of relief for the safety of their children was ensured.

Athlai tentatively moved to the nerds list. Cribb replaces him on the fake nerds list.

I'm a nerd but no way could I go D&D. Interested to see how it turns out, should play it through the thread or if you do Skype it then maybe record it like those Rollplay dudes. <_<
