So I'm looking at running a game based on XCOM. Kind of a simplified D&D/Table top sorta thing, kinda hard to explain. Still working out rules, and tinkering etc so it may take a little while until its ready but though I'd start a thread just to gauge interest, and probably do a test mission or 2 in the not too distant future. So feel free to start an interest list Basic rundown of how it would work (ideally) Each player would run a country You would each have a squad of available soldiers, who level up and get better as you progress with them. Just like in XCOM, these dudes can die, and do not come back. When a soldier does you get a new rookie You are responsible for conducting research etc, to get better equipment and shit. When it comes time for a mission, I will post up the mission briefing including how many players are required. This allows us to have quite a few people involved in the game, as not everyone will be involved in every mission. Players will also control the alien side, each controlling an alien/squadron of aliens. For example a mission could come up: Abduction in London Players required: 10 (6 XCOM, 4 Alien) First 10 peeps 10 volunteer would be in for that mission. Each XCOM player nominates one of their soldiers to take part, alien players would be given a list of choices, first in best dressed for choices. Probably have quick topics for each side to discuss orders, Combat would be turn based, with each teams turn outcome being posted in the main thread. I'll probs update this a bit more detail as I go. But yeah, interest, discussion, suggestions etc, gogogo
None really At first it might help to like identify the aliens, but you'd get the gist pretty quickly. And if it all goes well I'll hopefully be able to let alien players actually create their own aliens. Which would be cool.
