Really really need a positive result against Olympiakos. Realistically we should fuck them up - knowing us we'll fuck up I want Chamberlain to start though, the guy would be a perfect player in a game like this. In fact, I'd like to see Campbell and him together - Campbell did a really good job last time he got a gig with all the tracking back and getting stuck in. Never realised he was such a willing runner in that regard.
Ospina He was "rested". Honestly, I can understand that you might want to give Ospina some game time. But when you've already lost the first game and knowing that Ospina is at times a liability, it was an incredibly poor call. I mean this isn't exactly the same as sitting Bravo out in Champo league and playing ter Stegen. ter Stegen is a champions league quality goalkeeper. Ospina on the other hand is not. Aaaah, power of hindsight to an extent, I guess.
Didn't Wenger make Ospina a promise that he will feature in cup competitions? Cech was fit for the Zagreb game I'm pretty sure. He possibly would have gone with Ospina even if Cech had been 100%
Cech probably was fit for the first game but you weren't criticising that decision - your issue was with Cech not playing last night after we lost the first game
Ter Stegen is pretty poor these days tbf. Made a few errors today as well. Though Bravo is out injured right now.
Seems Koscielny might be out of the fixture vs United with a hamstring strain ? Looking forward too Mertesacker vs Martial especially if Arsenal play a high line.
Wasn't aware that Wenger said that he had a calf strain until your post, I thought it was about giving Ospina game time because he didn't want him leaving. With that information, it obviously makes sense to play Ospina ahead of Cech and not risk aggravating the Cech injury. I don't think the Champions League is the competition to be giving Ospina game time unless your hand is forced. Out of curiosity, did Wenger talk about the calf strain before the game or after?
Yeah he mentioned it before hand. Said he felt it before Leicester though, so it obviously couldn't have been too bad given he played then.
Yeah I asked because he could have been trying to cover his arse if he said it after the game considering how things unfolded
Maybe it's about how he's recovered from the Leicester game and he could've played last night or on the weekend but not both.
I think with the Zagreb game Arsene wanted to make sure he could prepare mentally for the Stamford Bridge return and din't think a trip to Croatia, which happened to have a bad journey back, just a few days before it would be the best way to do it.
Probably the most shame I've felt in a while in regards to Arsenal. I just can't understand how anything like that can happen. Shellshocked, but at the same time, not even surprised.
Hea still a brilliant goalkeeper even though he's made the odd mistake recently and are you classing the goal against Roma as a mistake? That was just an unbelievable effort to be honest
