That first half from the Warriors was pretty bad. Wake up call this game. Showed what they do in the second half but just way too many errors and incomplete sets
Last year's premiers were awful in their first three and a half games. They didn't win until Round 4 and had to come from behind to do that. I think the Warriors have been over-hyped too but FMD lets not read too much into Round 1.
I don't think the Tigers are the worst team in the comp, (Titans are imo). And they had home advantage. We will win most of our home games and still think we will make the top 4 with the talent we have. But yeah today wasn't great. The second half comeback was just short of being brilliant. Woeful post. The reason the All Blacks are so good is it's our national game. Nothing to do with colour. Rugby league is played by the lower socio-economic population in NZ, consisting of more Maori and Polynesians. The only white people who play league in NZ have very strong bogan heritage...like all white Australians.
You know this is different. Look at the quality of opposition. That's not merely rust. They're the same every year. Defence and ball control never get fixed. Absolutely no sign of it which would be required to even entertain the idea of them challenging the best sides. Of course nobody knows after one game but the top 4 predictions are way off the mark. That was true before we saw anything and it's even more true now. Trials and early matches sometimes ARE indicative.
