    Which begs the question, what's he going to do with it. Given his old man knows he's going to The Citadel, and as one of the biggest lords in The Reach, he can easily find his son and get the sword back. The only choices Sam has are to send the sword to the wall without him (trusting one of the most expensive weapons in the land to a stranger, or Gilly), or take it himself, thus returning to the wall having failed to even make it to The Citadel. Plus its only one sword - unless the wall has a smith with the skill and experience to rework Valyrian steel, which are few and far between.

    I think he took the sword because he knows it's useful against white walkers.

    He was scared of his father... couldn't even muster a response in defence of his woman.

    He's not a spiteful person... I think he took it for a purpose.
    He's one of the smarter minds around except when thinking with his dick.

    I was actually surprised he didn't challenge his father more around the dinner table.

    I read that season 7 is going to have less episodes than the standard 10 episode format of seasons 1-6. Apparently they don't have enough content to fill a full 10-episode schedule for season 7. Maybe they could have done it if they actually included a bunch of the characters from the books they cut out for the show :p

    Show runners said 13 episodes until it finishes after season 6. Season 7&8 to be split into 7&6 episodes, hopefully with the same budget.
