That wasn't really your point though. Your point was that is ridiculous to not pick him based on what he's done since break not that he deserves credit for playing well against the Titans, sure credit to him. He's done what he's done for the past 3-4 seasons, torn shit up. This isn't new news.

Giving 100% is not rushing out of the line to put a hit on when you're the fullback of the defending side. That's selfish, that's the definition of not giving 100% to the teams cause.

Well I've been saying it's ridiculous not to pick him the whole time. Him playing really well out of position just reinforces it. I dont care whether you give him credit for his game against the Titans. I just find it odd that you downplay his performances and at the same time say if he carves a side up it doesnt matter because we knew how good he was already.

I'm not really going to defend him on the count of selfishness because that and not trying are two different things. But you can argue about a play like that. He moved into the front line to put a shot on and make something happen. Maybe. Down by 10 with less than 4 minutes to go and Easts just receiving a set restart, i dont think its just wilful selfishness or a blind urge to fight Flanagan for no reason. I think he felt he needed to try something. It's misguided sure, but i think you're reading too much into one incident thats more about poor judgement than anything imo. On the whole he's played for his team, and he's given his all.

To use something like that as ammunition to not pick him would be very strange afaic. I mean was it selfish when Tedesco moved into the front line in similar field position against Penrith and left the backfield wide open for Naden to score off a simple grubber through the line? Well, no, he felt it was necessary to push up and fill a gap. Obviously the two are a little different in that Tedesco didnt try to put a shot on and then get pounced on by 4 Panthers players, but im just trying to find a more reasonable way of looking at one isolated incident by Mitchell. I dont buy that it was out and out Mitchell looking out for Mitchell rather than him trying to make something happen for his team.

Have to pick Fotuaika if he chooses to play for Qld. Tino and Collins should be heavily in the mix too. No more McGuire, no more Glasby and no more Wallace either.

Napa and Ofahengaue should be on the outer unless they start stepping it right up.

No McGuire? Why? He should be a starting prop.

    8. McGuire
    10. Papi
    11. Fifita
    12. Kaufusi
    13. Arrow

Then go with guys like Collins, Horsbrough, Offa, Napa and Fotuaika to come off the bench with Hunt. Really hoping Tino develops so we can get him into the left edge starting position.

I like McGuire and he's played really well this year but he has inferior drive after hitting the line. He turns his back. His numbers are inflated by playing so many minutes and taking so many runs. Doesnt work like that in Origin.

Fotuaika makes more metres, in significantly less game time and does it in a shittier side. He also doesnt have the luxury of playing on the back of Taumalolo.

If he's not available then I'm fine with McGuire but he has to start. If Moeaki is eligible then there's no place for McGuire in the side. He offers nothing from the bench.

Which is why I said he should be a starting prop...

    Not if Fotuaika is available.

  8. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Fotuaika is a bench option. But McGuire should start.

  9. Julian BJ Taylor

Fotuaika is your second best prop straight away if he becomes available. He's a stud.

    8. Taukeiaho
    10. Fonua-Blake
    13. Taumalolo

    14. Fotuaika

    My guy!

On the ball as always, wouldn’t mind seeing a mid-season international break instead of State of Origin. So long as it means all clubs will stop playing for a couple of weeks.

Not sure about the Polynesian comments... I assume he means just opening it up to players who are eligible for state of origin and and another country. In which case I’m not totally against.

Fuck we are in a hole as far as potential selections go. Injury, form and general quality of eligible players is a massive issue. Opening up the door to non-Australian eligible players would help us a bit, but I'd rather they kept it how it is.

We are really struggling for quality centres. Although the position had become less and less instrumental in NRL in recent years, I think with the uptempo games we are seeing a resurgence of the position. Guys like Jorris, Crichton, Staggs, Manu etc. are really standing out. And defensively the position is still very important, especially so against the Blues. It was obvious last year that stop-gap selections in that position wont be enough. I'm disappointed that Tuala has been really shit over the past fortnight after being quite impressive in the previous month or so.

Agreed. I've wanted that to happen for years.

This news today should have had Keary on the phone to him straight away saying cases like his should get an option to choose who they want to play for.

We should be okay. There's still a ton of quality in there. I can't see us winning but we should be competitive again. Our Game 3 side last year had Corey Norman, Tim Glasby and Will Chambers in it. Can't be any worse. And we lost by a bee's dick.

No Morgan hurts. It'll never happen but I would've liked to have seen Corey Norman play a half-dozen games at centre for St. George. I think he'd be serviceable.

FWIW Fifita's out injured with ankle syndesmosis.

Still 6.5 weeks til Game 1. Gotta be hopeful he'll be there.
