Also, the pearl clutching about Mam is pretty over the top. Could be wrong, but from memory, he wasn't under the influence of coke, it was just found in his system, it could have been 2-3 days post bender. Copped a huge fine and suspension, and every chance of losing more money in a civil case.

The only pearl clutching is thinking Ezra Mam did it tough... fucking pity party for the multi-millionaire footy player who had to spend a few months on a the tools, lol. Not saying Mam should be hounded for the rest of his life, he's entitled to reform like every other member of society, just spare us the sob stories of his emotional toll.

    Congrats on the win btw!

Anybody showing pity towards Ezra is an idiot. He's a footy player, he doesn't do it tough. Does anyone actually come out saying he is a sob story? Or is it just in response to the over the top BS about him not being punished enough.

Cheers. Supporting Brisbane last 5-6 years has been almost Tiger like.

It's 100% this. Maguire wasn't trying to elicit pity nor did he say Mam has done it tough. He said Mam has paid a big price and that it's been a journey to get himself back on track. Those are not the same thing.

Maguire is a football fanatic and a taskmaster. He doesnt give a shit nor have time for pity. He's speaking in the capacity of a coach who sees everything through the lense of football and winning. And in the face of criticism that Mam should've been shown the door on his watch.

If somebody wants to take pot-shots at Brisbane as a club over this incident, they should turn their brain on and realise a few words from a coach supporting his players is a slow news day. The ACTUAL criticism of the club is whatever the fuck they did behind closed doors to ensure a lenient punishment from the courts. He should've had a conviction recorded and had he done so, that opens up other avenues of punishment from both the club and the NRL.

Before returning from suspension the Courier Mail (Broncos ltd) ran a story that Ezra's 'spiral' had been caused by being called a monkey in Vegas 9 month prior. After 2 games into his return from his suspension Ezra came out and said that fans were only boing him because they were upset he calls out racism (didn't even acknowledge the possibility that they were booing him for putting a 6yo girl in hospital). And then the head coach comes out on the eve of grand final talking about the big price Ezra had to pay because he was on the tools for a couple of months and lost 4% of his new contract in fines. Everyone knows the punishment was soft so it's just tone deaf at beast, disrespectful at worst to the 6yo girl who's going to grow up with potential life long complications from breaking a hip that early in life. It's PR over-drive and it's tone deaf, that is my only point. Just play the game and let the guy atone for his errors.

I imagine the normal response from someone who put a young girl in hospital would be guilt and desire to take accountability by facing the consequences head on. Unfortunately with that multi-million dollar contract and relatively soft punishment, one of those consequences is going to be public opinion. Just bite your tongue and read the room, no one needs to hear the pity story.

And yeh there's been some over the top commentary the other way as there always will be but for every over the top comment there's also an apologist in his corner like MF.

Yep. His best pass of the night was to Walsh for his try, because he got rid of it straight away. When you got a team with Walsh, Mam, Reyno/Hunt; just get the ball off the deck.

As for next season; Billy is likely out for the first half of the season or so, which has a bright side in the fact we should see Mozer come in at 14. I'd say we'll probably see Hunt start at 9.

Ideally Reynolds retires and Hunt plays 7. Reynolds is absolutely cooked as a player, has been all year.

Yeah I was thinking he'd be getting a tap. Blowing a calf like that and being baby carried off doesn't paint a confident picture.

    Potential NZ side looking the strongest it has in some time for mine;

    1. Kini
    2. Mulitalo
    3. Kris
    4. Mclean
    5. Isaako
    6. Brown
    7. Foran
    8. Leota
    9. Marshall-King
    10. Fisher-Harris
    11 Sorensen
    12. Nikora
    13. Tapine

    14. Whyte
    15. Willison
    16. Clark
    17. Crossland

Real shame Hughes has been ruled out otherwise I reckon that's their strongest 17 in some time.

I'm torn, if he stays fit he's our best halback. Huge if though... And the fact that Hunt appears to get the best out of Walsh.

Reyno pulling the plug would make things easier for the squad balance once Billy is fit. Playing Mozer at 9 and Billy off the pine.

Nice. Thought the hit was weak as piss, and barely should even be considered a high tackle. With his record though, I thought he was no hope. Never want to see a player finish up like that.

Kidding himself, he got first crack from the trials and several cracks after and was utter shite in all of them. Never creates anything, can only grind games to 8-6 scorelines which only happens in Super League.

The value of drop outs has gone down so it makes sense you'd run it more often on the last, and if you don't score you turn it over in their 10.

May as well have a proper crack at a try then, some of them just do a shit run and hand it over.

Were they not absolutely smashed by injuries by the time he came in?

    Reynolds isn't the best 7. He's arguably 3rd best.

Still wild to me that Shibasaki will have a test jersey.

Was a very disjointed, underwhelming tour from Australia.

Would've been interesting had they faced Samoa or NZ.

I don't support the calls to rotate players just because the series has already been won but Walters really need to make changes base on performance... At the minimum both Shibasaki and Collins had to be dropped.
