    McGuire release has got to be up there with the worst recruitment and retention decisions of the decade for mine.

    Brisbane clearly lacking a forward leader and some seasoned pros in the forward pack.

    There are rumours that we are offloading players so we can front load Boyd's contract and get him out ASAP lol.
    Also rumours that Seibold wanted to drop Boyd earlier, but was blocked by management (!), and compromised by moving him to 5/8th. He was somehow even worse there.

    Haha how can management block the coach from dropping a player? Especially a high profile coach like Seibold. I can understand them blocking recruitment decisions he tries to make, or even possibly intervening in selection if they have a caretaker coach in for half a season or something, but he's probably on more money on Boyd - let him do what you paid him for.

    It's only a rumour, but who knows, maybe there are too many egos, or Boyd has too much influence or something.
    It's weird how you mentioned that Seibold is a high profile coach. He does seem that way, but he's only a 1.5 season rookie at this level.

    Yeah but when you headhunt a coach from another club, get them to release him early and pay him a shitload, sacking the most influential coach of all time in the process, he becomes high profile automatically. They didn't just pluck him out of the Queensland Cup and wish him the best.

    If he refuses to commit to a tackle at the back I don't see what putting him in the line at 6 was gonna do to make that better. Lol That'd mask it a bit if anything with men on in and outside to probably cover the tackle.

    Xavier Coates making his debut against the Sharks. 18 year old winger/centre, was MOTM in the U18's Origin game. Played for PNG a week ago. Taller than Oates, seems to be very highly regarded.

    Signing Lodge and Pangai on big dollars seems to make a rebuild of the roster harder.

    It doesn't really address any of their problems and I don't think Lodge is a top tier prop , Pangai will be a 24yr old with potential, they've paid massive overs to keep him.

    I can't think of many teams with a worse halves pairing..

    Lodge is going pretty damn well, averaging 160+ a game. Going better than last year. Pangai is definitely just a signing based on potential, but they probably paid less for him than what he was aiming for at the start of the year. Dunno what's happening with the halves, Seibold seems determined that Dearden is the future for now, but you can't really tell with halves when they are 18. I thought SOS went OK too. He made some stupid mistakes, but overall looked worth trying too.
    There are no particularly good halves or front rowers off contract that I remember. George Burgess is, but he's a genuine retard. If Lodge keeps improving, he'll be good to have while Haas, Carrigan and Flegler keep developing.

    TPJ and Lodge both great signings. Anybody that thinks those 2 are the issue with Brisbane is just retarded. 3m currently being spent on Bird, Boyd and Milford is the problem.
