This thread provides answers to a number of frequently asked questions on this forum regarding CricSim. This thread will be updated as the rules and regulations of CricSim change.

    What is CricSim?
CricSim (or cricket simulation) is a simulation game played between two sides of 11 players. The simulation is run through the simulator Internet Test Cricket, where games are streamed live over the internet and are free for anyone to spectate. A thread is created in the CricSim Matches forum to correspond with the current live game. There spectators can comment on the game and barrack for their team. After the match, the scorecard is uploaded to our website where it can be viewed by anyone at a later date.

Does CricSim have a website?Alternate to www.cricsim.com where all our simming and discussion is held we also have www.cricsim.com/site

How long has CricSim been going for now?
CricSim has a long storied and sometimes controversial history. Rob Cribb has been running CricSim for about 5 years now but that began on the Priddo run NRLM forums then moving to Sidhe forums, then when Rob was banned from there it was moved to a few small-time forums after most thought that CricSim was over forever. We then moved to www.CricSim.com where it really took off, even bringing members from forums like RLeague and CricketWeb.

    How do I get started?

Firstly, you need to register your cricketing details in the Registrations Negotiations thread. Unless you've already been allocated to a club to play with, you will be a offered contract in the Negotiations thread by and this is where all records, stats and player player profiles are held. thread. Following registering your details, you need to head into the
any CricSim club that is willing to sign you. It is important to note that clubs will notice you if you start posting around other areas of the forum such as the Social Bar or Sporting Discussion, so it's important to post around after you register so you can be offered contacts. You will then need to post your contract in the Contracts thread (This link may be wrong when you read) Shortly after being signed to your respected club, you will be given access to your clubs secret sub forum, where you will be able to discuss various team tactics, first grade line up, reserve grade line ups and much much more.

Can I physically control myself in Cricsim?
No, you cannot physically control yourself in CricSim. However, posting in your clubs sub forum, CricSim Matches sub forum, CricSim General Discussion and the Social Bar will increase your statistics in the simulator, which in turn will improve yourself. Form also increases your statistics in the simulator, so don't worry if you have a small post count!

    Why does my player suck?

There is nothing you can do to make yourself better except to post more to increase your skill level. Form also plays a factor, so even the best players can get a streak of ducks. Playing out of position may also be a factor, so if you're an Opening Batsman that is opening the bowling or bowling at all then speak up and tell your chairman of Selectors.

How many posts do I need to improve my player?
Your player's skill is improved as you progress the ranks of post-count, not by how many posts you have made. You can find your post count rank here.

    Am I allowed Multiple Accounts?

You are allowed to sign-up on www.cricsim.com with as many accounts as your heart desires.

Can I register for the Cricket Simulation with all my accounts?
Definitely not, only one account is allowed to register for CricSim. Any more than 1 and all your accounts will be banned.

What are the competitions that I can participate in?

    The Bannerman Shield
, is CricSim's leading First Class club competition. Although sometimes under differing names, it is also the longest running competition. The Inaugural champions were The Sticky Wickets and the reigning champions are The Ravens. The Bannerman Shield is CricSim's most popular championship with a long controversial history.

    The Avo Lover's Cup
, more commonly known as the ALC is the first class competition's reserve grade. Currently each first class team has a reserve grade where players not in the first grade lineup play in the ALC in an effort to gain experience and form so they may receive a spot in first grade.

    The Horrigan Cup,
is CricSim's leading One-Day club competition. It was first introduced to play out after each Bannerman Shield season. The teams participating in this competition are the seven clubs which participated in the Bannerman Shield Season 7 competition. The Horrigan Cup will run concurrently with the Provincial Championship, so players not selected for their province in each Provincial Championship round may be selected for their club in the corresponding Horrigan Cup round.

    The Horrigan Plate,
much like the Avo Lover's Cup is to the Bannerman Shield, the Horrigan Plate is to the Horrigan Cup. Currently each Horrigan Cup team has a reserve grade where players not in the first grade lineup play in the Horrigan Plate in an effort to gain experience and form so they may receive a spot in Horrigan Cup.

The Provincial Championship, sometimes referred to as the PC, is a representative competition for the five official CricSim provinces; New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, New Zealand and Great Britain. It will run at the same time as the Horrigan Cup, as mentioned above. Teams are chosen from the best club players from their respective province. Selectors use a mixture of past performances and recent Bannerman Shield form to choose the sides, often with a leniency to one of the, for example, NSW selector RG Cribb chooses the NSW side based almost entirely on past performances.

State of Origin, is a mid-Bannerman Shield Season Best two out of three series between New South Wales and Queensland. The rivalry is heated and the battles majorly contested with some players being slated as Stae of Origin specialists. Teams are chosen from the best club players from their respective province. Selectors use a mixture of past performances and recent Bannerman Shield form to choose the sides, often with a leniency to one of the, for example, NSW selector RG Cribb chooses the NSW side based almost entirely on past performances.

SportsTech Pacific Cup, is a tri-province tournament between Great Britain, Victoria and New Zealand. This tournament is played alongside State or Origin, mid Bannerman Shield. Selectors use a mixture of past performances and recent Bannerman Shield form to choose the sides, often with a leniency to one of the, for example, NSW selector RG Cribb chooses the NSW side based almost entirely on past performances.

The Jae Taylor Challenge, is a fixture within the SportsTech Paciic Cup that has been given its own reward due to the rivalry between Great Britain and New Zealand.

    The Rossleigh Trophy
, is the One-Day cricket equivalent to The Provincial Chmpionship and is held after the Horrigan Cup. Selectors use a mixture of past performances and recent club form to choose the sides, often with a leniency to one of the, for example, NSW selector RG Cribb chooses the NSW side based almost entirely on past performances. Although, since no province has a steady One-day team, it is assumed that the teams will be chosen based on form in the Horrigan Cup.

Who are the clubs that participate in CricSim?

There are currently eight CricSim sides participating in the Bannerman Shield. However, representative sides are picked midway through the season, to take part in a best of three origin series (Queensland vs New South Wales). The following is an overview of the sides that currently take part in the Bannerman Shield. For more information on the teams please click the link at the bottom of each overview which will take you to the team's CricSim Page. The page includes stats, history and current players.

    Current Teams:

Sticky Wickets: The Sticky Wickets are known to the CricSim community as the quiet achievers in the Bannerman Shield. The Sticky Wickets leave the talking to their performances, with the club usually staying clear of the fierce rivalries and sledging. The club is known as a side that are consistent performers in the Bannerman Shield. In the inaugural season of first class cricket, the Sticky Wickets managed to qualify for the grand final, and take out the championship. The Sticky Wickets are the only remaining Foundation Club.

The Sticky Wickets Second Grade is referred to as The Kings.

    President: DG Speirs
    Chairman of Selectors: DG Speirs
    Head of Recruitment: AJ Parker

Cyclones: The Cyclones, like the Sticky Wickets are considered quiet achievers in the Bannerman Shield. They are known as a club that gives players a fair go, regardless of there reputation. This is quite evident when they gave the disgraced wicket keeper EL Volavola a life line contract when no other club would. The club has a genuine 'feel good' environment around it. The beginning of season 6 saw the Cyclones kick off their rivalry with the newest club the Lions, though this feud will be put to rest when The Lions fold at the end of Season 8

The Cyclones Second XI is referred to as The Brumbies

    President: SB Wilson
    Chairman of Selectors: SB Wilson
    Head of Recruitment: BJ Gemmell
    Media Manager: JB Dempsey

Crusaders: The Crusaders were introduced in season three, with many players from the former Redbacks. The Crusaders have so far been consistent performers, with the club quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. So far they have not formed any form of consistent rivalry with any club, but have had fierce confrontations in the past with the Sticky Wicket XI. Each Crusader member appears in dark red.

The Crusaders Second Grade is referred to as The Knights.

    President: C Kovas
    Chairman of Selectors: C Kovas
    Head of Recruitment: C Kovas
    Media Manager: AD Hunt
    Championships: 1

Pumas: The Pumas are owned and operated by Scott Flack. The team is often known as the underdog, thus making them very popular in the CricSim community. The Pumas have a friendly rivalry with CricSim owner Robert Cribb and his pack of Ravens. The Pumas have currently fallen on some tough times. You can't write them off, though, as Flack will fight tooth an nail to get the Pumas to CricSim glory.

The Pumas Second Grade is referred to as the Jaguarundi.

    Chairman of Selectors: SA Flack
    Head of Recruitment: JP Wilkinson
    Media Manager: RA Boy

Ravens: The Ravens are the club a player would want to be at. A no no nonsense club, they follow a strict recruitment policy which sees them target not the best people on field, but off it. This has lead to early success, and they are won the Bannerman Shield in season 7. Lead by CricSim owner Robert Cribb, the Ravens partake in a friendly rivalry with the Pumas, owned by Cribb's good friend Scott Flack.

The Ravens Second Grade is referred to as The Test Eagles.

    President: RG Cribb
    Chairman of Selectors: BJT Manera
    Head of Recruitment: DW Lewis
    Media Manager: P Charles
    Championships: 1

Lions: The Lions burst onto the scene in Season 6, with the recruitment of many established players in CricSim. Their recruitment tactics have seen their reputation tarnished, which is unexplored territory for their owners and all round nice guys Ben Jacobs and Ben Read. The Lions were first accused of underhanded recruitment tactics by former Cyclones President JB Dempsey, which has lead to their current rivalry. The Lions will be folding at the conclusion of Season 8.

The Lions Second Grade is referred to as The Cubs.

    President: BC Jacobs
    Chairman of Selectors: BS Read
    Head of Recruitment: BS Read
    Media Manager: ND Short

Vipers: The Vipers debuted in the Bannerman Shield at the start of season 4. The club was full of relatively new players, with the Vipers looking to field a youthful side, in hope of developing a handful of future stars. However this backfired early on, with the club collecting the wooden spoon in their inaugural season. After an unsuccessful campaign in season five, the Vipers were booted from the competition. The Vipers re-united to again compete in the Bannerman Shield & Horrigan Cup in Season 8.

The Vipers Second Grade are referred to as The Cobras.

    President: R Gee
    Chairman of Selectors: T Delonge

Stingrays: The Stingrays are a new club which will compete for the first in Season 8 of the Bannerman Shield. Their bid was first started by Blocka, but Ged and K9 soon joined the bid and they were granted a spot for Season 8. The Stingrays will never be accused of being te most popular team even being despised by some and gaining a reputation that is "Redback-like" but have earned the respect of many through big performances on the field and even bigger personalities off it.

The Stingrays Second Grade are referred to as The Crocodiles

    President: GEC King
    Chairman of Selectors: AP Farnsworth

    Future Teams

Gamblers: will come into The Bannerman Shield & Horrigan Cup in Season 9, they caused a big fuss when they were unexpectedly given permission to enter after The Lions fold. They will be carried by CricSim personality, BJ Gemmell.

The Gamblers Second Grade will be referred to as The Carbonators.

    Past Teams

Redbacks United: The Redbacks were a significant part of CricSim history, with the club being the most controversial side to take part in CricSim in it's history. The side is notorious for being the most hated club ever, with the players loving to talk there side up and have an old fashion sledge. The side was kicked out at the end of season 2 (The season in which they won there maiden premiership) due to their terrible disciplinary record, with the Redbacks often bringing the game down. The Redbacks were given permission to re-enter CricSim as long as President EL Volavola could stay unbanned but they were finally laid to rest when Volavola was permanantly banned. The Redbacks were the first Foundation club to fold.

    President: EL Volavola
    Chairman of Selectors: EL Volavola
    Head of Recruitment: EL Volavola
    Media Manager: EL Volavola
    Championships: 1

Allstars: Known as the 'glamour club' to the CricSim community. The Allstars were a club that is all about friendship, trust and loyalty. The core group of the Allstars had played together with the same club for a number of seasons. They were regarded by many as one of the toughest sides to come up against in the Bannerman Shield. They were known to be fierce rivals with Redbacks United, a club which was kicked out of the competition in season 2. The rivalry was considered a 'hate/hate' relationship, with both clubs passionately hating each other, and the Allstars love nothing more then to beat their rivals, Redbacks United. The Allstars proudly disbanded following Season 7 due to the lack of activity from several key Allstar members, however this does not necessarily mean they will never compete in the Bannerman Shield again. They were the second Foundation Club to fold, leaving only The Sticky Wickets XI.

The Allstars XI's Second Grade was referred to The Somestars XI.

    Chairman of Selectors: N/A

What are the Board Positions within the club?
    There are 4 board positions at each club, these consist of;
    President
: often this is the founder of the club, although not always. The President has the last say in all decisions within their respective club.
Chairman of Selectors: is the person who names the line-up for each round. They've also been known to make banners etcc for the club.
Head of Recruitment: This is the only person who can authoritise signing new players or giving players permission to re-sign.
Media Manager: This person controls all interviews or stories that come from the club. They have also been known to make banners etc... for the club.

How do I gain a Board Position?
Generally new members take a while before they are entrusted with a Board Position, though there have been exceptions. Normally positions are available when a Board member is promoted, retires or the President takes a members Board Position away.

How Do I become a Mod?
Normally, you need to show extensive knowledge in the area that requires a Moderator and show that you will be staying around.

What is RLSim, Seasonal Rugby, SoccerSim etc...?
These are simulators just like CricSim but for their respective sport. Most of the time, they will run in the same or similar way to CricSim.

What is CPL (Insert sport here)?
These are selection games based around their respective sport.
