    POWER RANKINGS
During Season 12 the CricSim Herald will regularly release power rankings, attempting to rank the Bannerman Shield's 10 best batsmen, 10 best bowlers 5 best wicketkeepers and 5 best allrounders in an attempt to predict a Team of the Season. Players will be judged week to week on their performances in the Bannerman Shield only, and subjectively compared to each other. These rankings are entirely the view of the author, and are not official.

Round 1 saw some incredible batting performances, mixed with some splutters, and some underwhelming bowling performances. Not much should change after Round 1, expect the drastic changes to come after Rounds 2 and 3, after each team has played and there are larger samples to analyse.

    WEEK 1 RANKINGS
    Batsmen:
    1. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=421>J Torres</a> (Vipers) -
A disappointing start for our top batsman, he scored just 1 run. He remains a top our list for now due to his class.
    2. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=437>SM Morgan</a> (Stingrays) -
While not making a score over 50, Siege Morgan still finds himself in the top 20 Bannerman Shield run-scorers for this season for our first round. Enough to hold our our new #3
    3. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=58>SA Flack</a> (Pumas) Up 1
Scott Flack will count himself stiff not to head this list after a pair of unbeaten 150 run innings in his opening match. Look for him to climb this list further.
    4. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=913>JA Chewie</a> (Pumas) Down 1
Although he made just 3 runs in his first dig, a great 64* to accompany Flack to a Pumas win was enough to keep him at #4
    5. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=47>RST Downpipes</a> (Allstars) Up 1
Another disappointing start, but better than his teammate Duck Worth Lewis.
    6. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=91>DW Lewis</a> (Allstars) Down 1
Would have liked more runs against his former club. Expect bigger things this round.
    7. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=423>L Popovic</a> (Gamblers) -
A bye for Popovic sees him stay at 7.
    8. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=317>BG Herd</a> (Gamblers) -
Gamblers' bye leaves Herd at 8.
    9. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=78>R Gee</a> (Vipers) new entry
First appearance on the list for the Vipers middle order batsman. His 234 was majestic. Unlucky to not be higher.
    10. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=457>S Verigotta</a> (Vipers) new entry
Joins his teammate after 102 in a lengthy partnership. Another Viper on the list.

    Out:
    9. ML Martyn
    10. RG Cribb

    Bowlers:
    1. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=410>GJ Weaver</a> (Vipers) -
Only took one wicket in the match, but one could forgive him after his worth with the willow.
    2. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=365>DA Eggman</a> (Vipers) -
5/134. A solid return for Eggman.
    3. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=332>WC Welker</a> (Vipers) -
Currently leads the competition (with Jonny Ridd) on 9 wickets. His credentials only strengthen.
    4. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=96>BJ Taylor</a> (Gamblers) -
Gamblers' bye keeps Taylor in 4th.
    5. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=314>AD Hunt</a> (Pumas) -
No change in the top 5. Hunt was his usual self, but Taylor had the bye.
    6. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=115>SB Wilson</a> (Crusaders) -
Historically CricSim's best spinner, Scott Wilson has averaged under 30 for seven straight seasons. Unheard of, especially for a spinner, even in the spin friendly CricSim competitions. Mr. Consistent season to season.
    7. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=418>HT Davis</a> (Allstars) -
Underwhelming in the first round, but a lack of performance from those below him keep him at 7.
    8. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=58>SA Flack</a> (Pumas) -
Already seen in the batting top 10, it's incredible to see the same person on both lists. Scott Flack lead the Pumas bowling attack in S11 in the absence of a genuine lead seamer and became that himself. Now without a doubt CricSim's best player.
    9. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=37>RG Cribb</a> (Ravens) Up 1
Out bowled Funkotron in their first round bout so jumps him.
    10. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=39>AD Funkotron</a> (Allstars) Down 1
Not up to his usual standard in R1, but retains his top 10 spot.

    Wicketkeepers:
    1. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=50>JB Dempsey</a> (Sticky Wickets) -
    2. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=855>LE Schaw</a> (Pumas) -
    3. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=324>K Fung</a> (Stingrays) -
    4. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=456>EI Morris</a> (Cyclones) -
    5. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=881>AJ O'Neill</a> (Gamblers) -
A poor round for our top 5 wicketkeepers. No change here. Fung continues to push however, being the only one to make 50.

    Allrounders:
    1. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=58>SA Flack</a> (Pumas)
I don't think this will change all season.
    2. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=37>RG Cribb</a> (Ravens)
Just holds on after Weaver's hundred due to his jump in the bowling ranks
    3. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=410>GJ Weaver</a> (Vipers)
Next stop number 2 for CricSim's bowling all-rounder
    4. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=350>MD Dorn</a> (Pumas)
Solid in his match. Daylight between him and 3rd.
    5. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=358>CJ Laing</a> (Ravens)
Not going to bowl as much, but he's regaining his batting touch. Deane will feel slighted, but he has been lacking for a while.

Week 1 - Power XI (Predicted Team of the Season):
    1. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=437>SM Morgan</a> (Stingrays)
    2. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=37>RG Cribb</a> (Ravens)
    3. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=47>RST Downpipes</a> (Allstars)
    4. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=421>J Torres</a> (Vipers)
    5. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=58>SA Flack</a> (Pumas)
    6. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=913>JA Chewie</a> (Pumas)
    7. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=50>JB Dempsey</a> (Sticky Wickets)
    8. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=410>GJ Weaver</a> (Vipers)
    9. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=365>DA Eggman</a> (Vipers)
    10. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=96>BJ Taylor</a> (Gamblers)
    11. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=332>WC Welker</a> (Vipers)

TotS should be prefixed by Week 1, not Preseason. Quality besides that though.

    Good stuff.

Loving the activity of the Herald this year.

    Ah cheers.

Is tots just the best players or best performers of the week?

  7. morgieb MC Burridge

    The former.

  8. Jabba HJ Bots

So it shouldn't really be team of the season more like Team Cricsim Watch (the heralds opinion of who should be picked for our test side)

Why call it team of the season and have some guy who has an average of 1 for the season as the top batsman?

  10. Jabba HJ Bots

    agreed toolio

  11. Mousey AJ Son

Because it's predicting what it will be using power rankings (which is season form and prior performance).

Basically, right now, it aims to pick what would be the team to have if you wanted to win a game tomorrow in the BS.

  13. Jabba HJ Bots

Why have week 1 there then?

Just call it predicted team of the season, really misleading

    WOOOOT INFRACTION

  14. Toolman TR Man

who cares about prior performance, we can just look at the list of the top 10 overall for that? same list different shit

  15. Jabba HJ Bots

    Ok suggestion then

Have an actual team of the week and then have your cricsim best XI

  16. Pretzel P Retzel

    awtoolio.

  17. MightyPies DA Alessi

Team of the week a better idea imo.

    Good idea overall though.

  18. Mousey AJ Son

This is already happening through someone else.

  19. Mousey AJ Son

I don't think you all realise what power rankings are tbh. TotW is a completely different concept.

  20. Toolman TR Man

is anybody doing team of the season.. of the actual season?
