    Me:
    642 @ 71.33
    20W @ 20.95

I have a feeling these matches not counting towards rankings hurts me somewhat <.<

    Just a stats booster, Athfly.

Or one could choose to look at it the other way and say that those matches having FC status helps you somewhat...

    North Academy >>>> Stickys

Why don't they count towards rankings? I understand they're a lower standard than most FC games, but so is playing Victoria.

  8. Cribbage RG Cribb

Impossible to actually determine the standard of them mathematically.

  9. Howe JHF Howe

Do you mean because there's not enough of a sample? Surely that'd apply to North and South proper?

  10. Cribbage RG Cribb

It's assumed that North v South is between roughly the best 22 players - a competition of two teams selected from a competition of [insert however many BS teams there were that season]. The Academy games could be all over the shop in terms of standard. Comparing the two sides against each other is fine but how could you mathematically determine how high the standard was in comparison to an ALC game, a BS game or a PC game?

  11. Howe JHF Howe

Yeah, I think I'd got this backwards - I had assumed the standardisiation methods you use is based on the individual records of the opposition, but if I'm hearing you right it's actually entirely based on the recent records of the opposing team in its entirety?

  12. Cribbage RG Cribb

Yeah indeed. Getting tailend wickets counts a bit differently to getting top order wickets for example but if you play a game against the Vipers in Season 12 then the Vipers Season 12 record is what's examined. And if that record changes after you play them, so does yours.

So if I've got this right, let's say we get the Vipers first up and Julian for whatever reason sticks me in firsts and I score an unbeaten double ton. That boosts my ranking enormously, but if the Vipers attack turns to shit for the rest of the season that double ton is worth less and my rating would suffer?

  14. Cribbage RG Cribb

If you score a double ton I imagine the Gamblers would rack up a fair score in that first round, in which case the Vipers bowling would have a poor rating from the get-go. All that sort of stuff gets reset at the start/end of each season.

But yes, if you score a huge ton in Round 1 against a team that ends up with a really poor bowling quotient then it won't count for as much.

Would it work better if performances against your own side were removed?

  17. Cribbage RG Cribb

Your own performances (not your whole team's, that would actually be worse for several obvious reasons) are removed.
