I honestly don't see this starting up that soon anyway. The DM, whoever that may be, will need some time to set up the campaign and the players need to make the characters. Before any of that happens we need to decide what system we're even going to use.
I will admit to being a closet dnd nerd. Grew up with my folks playing it and then have been in a couple of groups myself. Have played both 3.5 and 4e. While imo 3.5 is the much better game id advice starting with 4th because its alot easier for beginners. Not going to join in here due to timezone issues and playing in a group already but I can answer any questions about stuff if people need help
Also im going to put it out there that anyone who likes reading or watching fantasy will have a good chance of enjoying dnd. theres alot of stigma behind it but it can be quite good fun
Equally though, you don't have to enjoy reading or watching that sort of stuff to enjoy it. I wouldn't say I do particularly much of either of those, yet I really enjoyed the brief time I played.
I think it's one of those things that most people would actually enjoy and would at least considering to play a second time if they ever took the step to play the first time.
Well if I was DMing that you'd have to make a really strong argument as to why Minotaurs should be allowed as a race because that's not in the basic Player's Handbook and I'd have no idea how to balance new stuff with the basic stuff.
Keen, I think. My only ever encounter of it was an episode of That 70s Show where they were high and playing it with Alice Cooper. Since he played it I may aswell.
I'm possibly interested. I have no clue how this all works though. Would I have to do any large (300MB+) downloads?
I know that for 3.5e at least theres a book that shows you how to turn monsters into characters. The real challenge is explaining what a minotaur is doing partying with an elf, a human and a halfling though...
Well that depends how many other books we allow. For example, if I was DMing the players really only need the player's handbook, which would only be about 70mb.
I get home.from work at 7.30 and may soon actually have to work more hours if I get a leadership role.
