Yeah the fact of crux of the matter is over two legs, if United were so much better, they should've won the tie.
I'm an Arsenal FFS, I've watched my team dominate match after match and come away with a 1-1 draw. It's shit but the fact of the matter taking chaces is what matters, not creating them, not keeping the ball.
Bayern were more clinical infron of goal and on the basis of that they, deservedly, went through.

I know it's not as simple as that as it ended up being away goals, but you get the drift.

The main bit I don't get is dismissing Robben's goal as a fluke. So what if it was? Individual brilliance decides games more often than not. It's what Man Utd lack with Ronaldo gone and only a half-fit Rooney. They don't have a creative playmaker who instigates moves for them, so they rely on the quality of their whole team to make the right runs and passes instinctively. That's always going to need some in-form and talented individual players, and unfortunately for them they didn't have enough to make up for those who were obviously sub-par (Carrick, Silvestre etc.)

  3. Baxter MJ Deane

    Silvestre? :p
On the whole I agree. Carrick is turd though, have never rated him.

  4. Riddy JH Ridd

some people want carrick instead of lampard in england team!

  5. Baxter MJ Deane

Yeah, I heard these people are the reason Methodrone is being outlawed.

  6. Speirz DG Speirs

My bad, you can see how I cocked up and put him there though given he's an ex-Manc. Meant to say Rafael.

  7. Agreed, it will be a travesty if Barca don't win it now.

  8. Baxter MJ Deane

Yeah, Silvestre was cocking up for us instead :(

Thought Rafael did a decent job until he got himself, stupidly, sent off.

  9. Speirz DG Speirs

Yeah, undid some good work with some of the dumber things I've seen. That first yellow was just plain idiotic. Youth can't be used as a full excuse.

  10. Baxter MJ Deane

Yeah, he seems to have some talent but just like when he got sent off against City in the Carling Cup, there seems to be no exlanation for what he's doing.
Immaturity has got something to do with it, but I just think it's the type of player he is. He's liable to making mistakes and having absolutely shocking games.

In all honesty, I don't think Robben's goal was a fluke. Something inside of me says they might have tried it on the training ground once or twice, like that corner Man U used a few season's back and people were questioning. Great goal tbh, 3/5 goals last night were pretty spectacular ones.

Think he was having the game of his life TBH.

  12. Speirz DG Speirs

Yeah, it was obviously a set play. To pull it off that perfectly though, under that much pressure and with so many bodies in and around the box, definitely takes a bit of luck. Hell all Man Utd needed was a man on the back post.

Reminded me a lot of this goal though, simply perfect technique. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaQhF-523As

And you whinge about it, so dont sprout all this as if we should just shut up and say we wernt the better team because we were by a mile.

If United were better they should of won the tie? So footballs just as simple as that? You play 2 games and whoevers on top at the end of it was the best side? Think everyone knows thats not how football works.

Look at all the goals, how can someone compare Bayerns to ours and say they played better than us. How can someone watch 180 minutes of football their and say they were better than us for the majority of the match? They cant.

  14. Baxter MJ Deane

That's all I have to say.

  15. Verigoat S Verigotta

Its all you ever have to say coz because your a biased **** who cant see past his own vail of shite

  16. Baxter MJ Deane

No, it's just if you were as dominant as you make out you were then surely you should've been able to prove that over the course of 180 minutes? Goals count, possession doesn't.
Possession helps create chances which in turn lead to goals but possession and chances themselves don't count for anything.

Yeah, i get pissed off when Arsenal draw 1-1, like we did at Birmingham a few weeks ago, but whoe xactly are you annoyed at Veri? Irant and rave and vent for 24 hours or whatever but at the end of the day it's United's fault for not taking chances. it's United's fault for the defensive errors and givin Bayern chances which they took. That's what proved to be the difference.

You can't just write off their goals as defensive mistakes and in the same breath say you deserved to win. Defensive errors are a ****ing massive part of football and if you don't defend well then you're going to find yourselves losing quite often.

  17. Speirz DG Speirs

To be honest, it's the first time in a while where Man United have been the more dominant side and lost. Thing is though, bringing it up just makes you sound bitter. The amount of times the shoe has been on the other foot and you've been the worse side and got through would be far greater IMO. As far as the denial and bitterness goes, just swallow your pride and accept it. Hey, things could be much worse, you could be stuck on the other side of the world and forced to watch the game at 4:30 in the morning, while your own domestic league runs around in forty degree heat and doesn't really provide all that much worth watching. (Except maybe this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNzCjd1OVdM)

    Deleted the Arsenal bit

Dont think I said we deserved to win. Might of, if so mabye a bit mistaken. What I know I have said is that "They didnt deserve to win" and "We were the better team/we dominated them" mainly in answer to SNs comments of Bayern totally outclassed us. Im not trying to say our small defensive errors shouldnt be counted, ye they should. But did they deserve to win? Lets take your 2 factors Goal Count and Possesion. Goal count was equal, and can you really say someone should win on how long theyve held the ball? Really? I dont. The quality of our build up play/attacking and general defence apart from the errors was far superior. Look at each teams 4 goals, are Bayerns more deservant of a win? I dont think so really

Does a deflected free kick really make them more deservant to go to the semis?

The slip was bad defending on their part just like our lapse, but a massivley deflected free kick and all of a sudden some people are saying they outclassed us?

Im not arguing that we should be in the semis, im arguing that we dominated them which we did. Watch the games as many times as you want. And that they did not deserve the win. That doesnt neccisarily make us deservent of it, but out of the 2 team performances. I think ours was the better of 2 evils or non deserving teams whatever you want to say

  19. Baxter MJ Deane

The point I was making is that possession means exactly the square root of **** all.

To be fair, you did win the match last night..

  20. Verigoat S Verigotta

ahh well, my points still valid

over 180 minutes did they deserve the victory any more than we did. With the goals that they scored, attack and defensive plays on both sides. I dont think they did. Im sure a lot of non united fans will say that they didnt deserve it also
