Bird with a lazy ball to Morris just before half time was a let down, was hoping he'd have a dig. Just watching Merrin and he just doesn't quite seem ready for origin, really struggles to find the ground, often on his back with a slower play the ball, bit like a mini Weyman.
NSW always had numbers on the left early in the second half, Bird held it but I think there was a real opportunity outside him, Pearce was sweeping and Jennings had 2 on 1nI'm pretty sure. *Fucking Brett Morris and that kick. No pressure put on Cronk though in the lead up, everyone just looked at him.
Gasnier definitely could've passed to Uate on the second Boyd hit and Dugan really should have just dived on that ball in front of the sticks too.
Dugan and Soward nearly fuck up big time for the drop out after Gallen's stupid offload. Both go for the ball, just seems like there may have been a lack of talk or poor communication in general from Dugan throughout the second half, especially if he called for that ball from Gallen as some have suggested. Still seems like a strange decision for QLD to have gone for the two points in the second half, they were all over NSW.
I found it strange too but given NSW defence was good I can see why they went for the 2. Was a turning point when Thurston missed that goal. I see what you mean though with the relentless pressure they were applying, I thought they could have gone for the try, surely the line would have cracked at some point.
Yeah or even just go for another repeat set. Jennings had a pretty good chance to score after that to, should've backed himself and headed for the sticks, tried to go back toward the sideline and spilt it.
Jennings really should've thrown that pass to Morris too, he still scored the try in the end so it's all well and good but it was definitely pre meditated, Slater really should've played the man with the ball. Excellent work from Dugan to put him through though.
Fuck the set to follow it up is shit house, when Scott goes through on that halfbreak Pearce had a chance to hit him low and early, wussed out quite a bit.
Was in the back of my head actually watching it last night, still though Jennings got pretty lucky tbh.
And Gallen was the player to Ennis' right. Could hardly expext him to cover so much distance and make the tackle on Slater.
When are you talking about? After re watching the game I've got to say Beau Scott had a pretty good game.
Yeah, the slower nature of it really helped him out, but he was fucking awesome defence and held his own in attack as well. Should retain his spot for sure.
He could've been in a position too had he not stopped his feet. Was the whole team though, their poor lead up work meant they'd always be short on the line.
