    Anyway, what's everyone's thoughts on book-Varys?

    After reading The Dunk & Egg stories and seeing Varys on the S2 rerun last night something odd occurred to me. There was a scene that did not eventuate in the book, where Varys appears in a brothel and enlists the service of a whore. In the scene she attempts to grab his bits but is shocked to feel nothing. After saying to my wife for the 100th time that this shit never happened in the books it dawned on me that there is no confirmation of him being a eunuch. And had me wondering if he was a Eunach at all and the whole thing was a ruse and he shaved his head to further hide his ancestry like Egg did. The way he helped bring down Aerys' rule suggests to me he might be a Blackfyre.

    Ya, Illyrio's man.

    I think he is using Dany to get Targ loyalists on his side.

    He also has Aegon, but then they use the Golden Company, which was founded by Blackfyre exiles. They would not assist a true Targ, which makes me think Illyrio and Varys are Blcckfyres and perhaps Aegon as well (ie not Rhaegar's son, but rather a young Blackfyre heir).

    Or perhaps Aegon is legit and he wants to pit him and Dany in a battle for the Targ crown, and then swoop when the time is right. Would go with his MO. that he used to manipulate Aerys and Rhaegar to turn Targs against each other; weakening them.

    Na connington thinks he's legit imo. Biggest tell for me though is the Golden Company. They broke a Gold contract to join them. However their contract with Varys and co. is blood one. Blackfyre blood.

    Think the books imply that it was Connington was involved in the Aegon dupe, so he knows he's legit. Christ I only re-read that book a month ago and I can't remember!

    Nah seriously... if you think that you need to look at most of GRRMs other work... mostly Sci-Fi... including stuff about hive minds, apocalyptic stuff, aliens vs aliens, aliens vs people, there's some weird stuff out there... and he's anti war so the suspicion is it won't end with a massive battle...

    The theory is the long night is a nuclear winter... everyone goes to ground... well under ground... to survive different factions undergo some genetic change and some gain abilities such as mind control, telekinesis etc etc... so everyone is stuck in the dark ages for thousands of years... the white walkers... also human and low on gene pool so are after everyone elses babies and Craster and the bear were trying to poison them with inbred children...

    GRRM has even written stuff that could suggest the comet is actually an alien vessel that is the reason the magic type stuff is happening more easily.

    Most of this sounds too ridiculous to be true but then so is a lot of GRRMs work.

    I can elaborate if anyone is that keen.

    Yeah, I think there's a better chance of Bran waking up to it all being a dream than that happening. Or anything near it. I do wonder how crazy some of these conspiracy theorists must be to dream up such rubbish, perhaps they should write their own version for noone to read.

    He's also edited a lot of scifi stuff.

    He's had involvement with the twilight zone as well.

    Could be wrong, but he could be setting us up for something quite different to the expectations... he has stated it won't be a Tolkien finish!
