Knock ons in the tackle is easy to implement. Just three outcomes from a tackle at the moment - Tackle ---> Ruck, Attacker Evades, Tackle dislodges ball (which it assumes the tackling team obtains the ball and the ref plays advantage). Could easily change this to the ref playing advantage some times, but blowing up for a knock on at other times.

And in which circumstances do you earn a free kick these days? It's one of those rules that's changed a fair bit of late.

Also, whilst I think of it, there are no marks in the sim yet. This shouldn't be too hard to sort out.

Indeed. Just advantage was played rather than calling up for the scrum.

Ahh ok I see. Are the percentages right on that aspect? As much as I hate to say it I think pretty much every tackle I made had that result, its possible a bit of tweaking might be needed there?

Well, I didn't provide commentary for the whole game, but I'll check it out anyway. As I said to Farny, I'll tweak it anyway so that the ball lost in the tackle will sometimes result in a scrum.

Oh yeah, didn't think about the hidden parts of the game. Obviously being the man with all the stats you'll know best whether or not those figures are right.

Just had a brainwave in hope of obtaining some player stats. Watch this space.

Success! Broken tackles by player and handling errors by player are now being totted up. Just need to think about what else I can do using this method. Probably carrying metres, kicking metres

Fixed. One other thing I've noticed is that if someone kicks out into the in goal area or out of the back of the in goal area, then it takes the restart from the centre. Okay for simming a pre-season test friendly, but not ideal for the real season. Will have resolve that. Should be do-able.

Phew. Fixed this one. Was a pain in the derriere too. 22m drop outs now working.

EDIT: Just to get my facts right, do you take the 22m drop out from the try line, or anywhere within the 22? At the moment, I've got the drop-out being taken from the try line. Not sure if this is 100% right.

Is Kicking metres going to be available for each player as a stat or just as a team stat overall?

  11. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

As of about 2 seconds ago, available for individual players. Not sure how many more individual stats I can do, but I've now got (for each player)

    Missed Tackles
    Handling Errors
    Running Metres
Kicking Metres for Territory (i.e. not including Penalty kicks at goal)
    Tackles Made

This really does sound really indepth and well done but as it is so in depth I'm wondering how time consuming it is to do a game?

Well, what I'll probably do is once I've got it working, write a macro to create the stats & result for me at the press of a button.

Pretty much as things stand, I press F9 and it will sim [up to] 5 minutes of play. With the stats, I just copy and paste the 5 minutes worth of stats into a summary sheet which will summarise the whole match's stats (no big deal, but easily automated with a macro).

The time consuming bit is writing commentary, but if people just want results & stats, it won't take much time at all.

Sounds really well done, great stuff.

Probably seems fairly meaningless, but the Orange zone is the restart. (Sharks restarting, kick deep, caught by Brett Gemmell). Results in open play (passed to Inside Centre - Ged King, attempted tackle by 2nd rower (missed). King gains 10m. Passes to Humble (Blindside Flanker). Tackled by Blindside Flanker (Simon Laing) resulting in Knock On. Next phase is Scrum to Sharks etc.

    Shit looks complicated.

    Should see the formulas.

Haha from the try line is league.

22's are taken from the 22 (or just before) As long as the ball doesn't bounce over the 22 metre line.

Yeah... Been watching too much different oval ball sports lately. I'll fix that up tomorrow, but that should be a 5 second job.
