Yeah the Walsh chat is misguided. Sure he's loose but several errors were clearly out of desperation trying to make something happen amid a complete onslaught. I dont blame him for trying because Dearden was useless and Cherry-evans seemed content to just throw bombs up with a 30 point deficit.

Not about playing safe footy, it's about being a competent ball player. Knowing when to pass and when to run is a crucial part of being an effective ball player.

And you can’t use the 30 points down line either, he does it every week. Not to mention when NSW were up 2 tries he ran a dead short side play that resulted in a kick from Tuilagi that went dead which if memory serves NSW either scored next set or got a repeat set and score the set after instead of having to ruck it off their own line. Next play after said try he kicks the ball out on the full.

I’m sure he’ll put it all together one day but at this level you can’t be that loose with possession & territory.

He’s QLD’s best option atm but I think it’s crazy some people had him ahead of Ponga.

^ absolute nonsense. It lead to a clear line break. How the fuck is that a dead shortside? Tualagi had Walsh and Cherry-evans unmarked on the inside. Cunt kicks it dead from 45m out and you blame Walsh?

    God you talk shit sometimes.

And this just proves my point, the guy never gets called out for it.

You want to explore a short side play because the winger has dropped back on last tackle from within you own half, meaning there’s good defensive backfield cover and you’re going to blame the winger for not executing a kick on last tackle when he’s pressed up against the line? NSW had the passing channels cut off and two back ready for the kick, but sure “Tiuilagi is a cunt for not pulling of a miracle deft little banana kick running down the sideline on an off the cuff play”.

That play fails 95/100, there’s good reason sides don’t explore the space every time the wingers drop back on last tackle. There’s good backfield coverage and you’re putting the ball in the hands of a winger expecting them to make a good kick under pressure with backfield coverage.

It’s good luck if it comes off, not good game management. Explore that space when you’re in good ball, not when you’ve just played the ball on your own 30m line.

Talking out your arse and grasping straws on a play you clearly barely remembered. Anybody who has watched Tuilagi knows a flaw in his game is coasting when he's in the backfield. Did it twice in Game 1 with Hammer having to slow down. He jogs. If he sprints as he's supposed to Walsh is absolutely a passing option. The only Blues defender was marking Hammer and was in no position to stop that pass.

Walsh did nothing wrong in that play and if you had a clue you'd blame Slater or Hannay because it was clearly a set move which has been executed and employed over the last 5 games. It's not an off-the-cuff play at all.

    You literally have no idea.

Personally I think this is the end of Walsh. That's how bad it was. He proved every concern about him right and it's going to get exposed more and more from now on. He can't handle a good rushing defence and he doesn't have any maturity to adapt to a higher level. He'll be the next Benji Marshall, an early peak then dwindling off into nothingness, taking the Broncos and every rep team dumb enough to pick him down with him. He doesn't have it in him to be a great. I don't want that garbage embarrassing Australia.

And if you want to make $$ game 3, Nanai ATS. Should've scored game 1, easily scored game 2. Paying $4 both times. Knows how to time his run and DCE knows how to use him.

Absolutely bizarre to say he cant handle a rushing defence. That's just manifestly untrue based on previous Origins. Was Suaalii not rushing him for example? Even more bizarre to write him off at 21.

He was new last year. And that was a 1 on 1 desperate rush, not a proper line. NSW did it perfectly game 2 and they'll do it again game 3 so we'll see it again then. Roosters also did it fairly well against Brisbane. He's used to having a bit of time, obviously the 6 again game works to his favour there, but if you give him none then he gets frustrated, and he's easy to crunch to stop any attacking momentum.

And what do you guys mean you don't know what the chat is about? Even the boomer commentators who love to fap over in favour attacking players are forced to point out often that Walsh 'needs to get that out of his game bla bla'. Common sense knows that those things will get exposed ever more at higher levels. And he's not going to ever get it out of his game, that is his game.

No it's less to do with rushing and more to do with presenting a straight line which shepherds him towards the sideline and forces him to throw a poor pass. He's quite capable of skipping past a staggered line or tapping it on quickly under pressure. He's got a decent cut-out pass from time to time as well.

We all see the valid criticisms of Walsh. He's like a reverse Tedesco and doesnt know when to die with the ball. That will come with maturity and probably isnt being helped by Slater's coaching which is clearly a licence for Walsh to throw caution to the wind all the time. But the one's you and Magic are levelling are misguided that's all.

Walsh pulls the same crap shortside plays from within his own half or around halfway consistently for the Broncos.

    It's literally his MO.

You've blamed Slater, Hannay and Talagi for Walsh. Who's next? Nate Myles?

You are proving my point perfectly, he's just doesn't get called out for the amount of possession he turns over for his side in bad areas. At this stage of his career he's just not a good enough ball player to be given such freedom.

Trell, Coates, and Taulagi have been ruled out of game 3.

Assume we see Best, Cobbo, and Gagai come in for them. Ponga likely to push Capewell out too I'd imagine.

We all see he's loose. Read what's written. Criticising him on that particular play tho is stupid. It was a set move and he executed it perfectly. He didnt turn over possession with a loose pass, error or poor execution. Tualagi did. End of story. The play was on.

Latrell is a massive loss. The Blues team is still stronger than their game 1 side but weaker than their previous one. It could well be the difference. Putting my maroons colours to one side I was happy to see him shut a lot of people up in game 2. Dude has copped so much unfair bullshit over the years, some self-inflicted but mostly not.

Hopefully Slater shifts Holmes to the wing. He's a winger plain as day and he simply cannot defend at centre again. Its comical.

Fifita will be there too is the mail. Ponga at 17.

Much stronger side and the Blues are weaker. Gotta actually turn up this time tho. There's even mail that Papalii could make a comeback which would be awesome but I dont see it happening tbh.

    Poor game management.

Saw it again against the Panthers when Broncos had just defended 3 sets back to back and he kicks on 3rd tackle.

You can justify being loose with the points he creates, letting him make game management decisions like running a low percentage play on last tackle and then blaming the winger for not having a extraordinary kicking game is wild.

You're too biased to see it.

Took 3 attempts but Maguire finally picks something that resembles an origin bench.

I don't think NSW win it up at Suncorp but Qld do seem more rattled than usual.

Nvm. Fifita has been overlooked again, Su'a axed and Kurt fucking Capewell will start on the edge.

    Capewell over Fifita
