The last Solum I had was when the one following meeting Tariq. Solum just doesn't capture me anymore, seems like a lot of walking for a fairly uninteresting reason.
Yeah there was a long period of nothing happening, but it seems to have picked back up around week 20ish.
Started listening to this over the last week. Pretty fun, anything to do with 'Abigail's box' is hilarious
Solum rebooted. Completely ditched the current storyline and started again in 5ed 1000 years in the past at level 1. Probably the right decision for the story but a bit of a shame they went to 5th given they use that in West Marches already. Geoff's new character is hilarious
I think the 5e bit is the worst parts. The characters are excellent but because its 5th im terrified they'll die every time they go into combat lol. 1st level 5ed is such a yoyo fest
The fight against Balrog (?) kinda showed how much damage things can do in relation with their health. That said, I think Neal balanced him around a party of 4 but he ended up only fighting one or two at a time. I just didn't like certain aspects of 2nd edition. Some of those things may have been Neal's touches though. I definitely think 5e seems a lot more streamlined. As you say though, the new party is amazing. I think Geoff and Gen in particular have shown much better roleplaying than they have in the past. Would like to see Ryan do a bit more to break away from his typical style though.
Gen's actually playing the exact same character as in the pre reboot weirdly. But he's by far her best character so I was pretty relieved. West Marches is another show that uses the 5ed system and it's pretty much exactly the same there. I do like certain bits of 5e... but in other parts i find it over simplified, and the balance seems totally broken at level 1
Just bought the Swan Song shirt. Best show. Mirrorshades is good too. Also exciting to see Jesse cox get a full time spot instead of jp in r+d
It sold so many. What was the postage like to get it in NZ? I actually think the West Marches is my favourite show atm. I love all the different characters and Zeke is so entertaining. Plus Stephen's ability to improv as a dm is incredible. The whole thing is done by random tables with very little preparation. I like Adam too though, out of the 3 dms he seems to be the one thats on the players side the most and hes very good at putting the party in incredibly tense situations and then letting them pull through without fudging anything
Adam and Steve are just so much better than Neal. He isn't the worst ever or anything but they're pretty much ideal DMs, challenging but fair, build strong narratives but keep the marionette strings well hidden. They also have so many classic NPCs. Two shirts had 16 bucks shipping so pretty steep.
Yeah. I do like Neal though... He creates interesting campaigns. The baby story did drag a bit and when he had the stress of organising his wedding and the intel comp it definitely crept into his dming to the point where you felt like every session he just wanted to cause a tpk. However since then hes moved to Thailand a mellowed out again. And he doesnt try any hsrder than Steven to kill the party. Yeah i figured itd be a load. Partly why ive not bothered
Fell asleep watching Swansong last night... wake up and JPs twitch is still on my screen so i see this Any relation of yours Athers?
