It would be shit imo. Would be so hard to maintain and would cause so much hassle and arguments etc. Plus the auction could go on for ages
Will just put in my two cents. I'm in favour of having some sort of retention or first refusal system in place, as I feel it's good to have at least some continuity between seasons. Will make it harder for new managers, but shouldn't that be the case to an extent anyway. Think the benefits of rewarding mangers who did well during the first season is more important. I also think only ending the auction for each player five minutes after the last bid is a good system. I agree with most of what Veri has said, but I'm not sure silent auctions are the answer, and since they seem to be an unpopular suggestion I won't try and pursue that line of thinking. The auctions won't necessarily go on for ever, because people will bid more earlier knowing that they can't steal someone at the death as easily.
Make it 2 instead of 5 minutes and I'm happy. Would still provide some solid F5 action. Agreed that continuity is important.
Vote within. First question... Option 1 - Live Auction. Season 1 format. Self explanatory. 1A - Season 1 format with 2 minutes added on to final auction deadline for players that have a bid in the final minute of the auction. 2 - Silent Auction. All bids would be sent via email to me. The highest bid would then win the player. 3 - Serpentine Draft. Self explanatory. 4 - Mixed Auction. Some players would be auctioned via live auction, some via silent auction. This would be determined randomly. 5 - Live Auction / Draft. Some players would be auctioned via live auction, some players would be allocated via draft. The players available in each would be determined randomly. 6 - Silent Auction / Draft. Some players would be auctioned via silent auction, some players would be allocated via draft. The players in each would be determined randomly. 7 - Mixed Auction / Draft. Some players would be auctioned via silent auction, some by live auction and some via draft. The players in each would be determined randomly. and... would you like salaries (and a salary cap) to be considered for S2? ie. each player has their real-life salary attached to them, and you need to maintain a budget? Yes or No and... do you want a retention system (if yes, we'll decide on the retention system once we've got an idea of what we're doing in answer to the first question)? Yes or No note that if we do a draft-style then retention may be difficult.
2 (OK with 1 though) No, seems like a pointless addition if we've already got a budget to buy players, why add a second? No
