I have a real shortage of quality midfielders as it is - I doubt there's a deal which can be done I'm afraid.

Is this about the best line-up I can put out? Really haven't filled the full forward line very well.

And really not sure about my subs. Everitt can kinda play anywhere. I guess I need to bring a forward onto the bench for Newnes?

Any ideas on a team name for the ressies mate? I'm happy to select the side if you want? Will post it in here each week and we can discuss before submitting.

  7. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

I definitely think it would be best if you selected the team. You might have a scooby what you're doing.

As for a team name, the obvious thing to do is to combine the two team names. The Mighty Movers or the Smooth Heefs. Or James Gwilt.

  8. jimmy_c8 MC James

Yeah I had Gwilty Movers as one of the combined names if your team name is Gwilty as Charged for this season.

  9. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Gwilty Movers sounds good. Regardless of what my actual team name is.

Gwilt likely to see some action for the reserve team too.

  10. jimmy_c8 MC James

The BnF will have to be the Gwilty Medal with Gwilt being the hot favourite!

  11. hen da man HRT Daman

Gwilt to captain the team too, when not playing first team footy of course.

  12. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

    Is this my best line-up?

FB: Mark Baguley - Ted Richards - Andrew Mackie
HB: Nick Haynes - Lachlan Keeffe - Matthew Jaensch
M: Pearce Hanley - Rory Sloane - Ben Cunnington
HF: Jamie Elliott - Cameron Pedersen - Chris Masten
FF: David Hale - Jack Riewoldt - Rohan Bewick
R: Dean Cox - Daniel Rich - Stephen Coniglio

INT: Andrejs Everitt, Jack Newnes, Koby Stevens, Cam Sutcliffe (SUB)

Mackie the third tall in the back line. I guess I could move Hanley back to HBF and bring someone else into the midfield. Hutchings seemed to go pretty well in pre-season, so I'm tempted to move Hanley back to HBF and bring in Hutchings, but I don't know whether that's really a good move. Bewick looked no great shakes at FP, but I don't really have much option there (Bewick, Bail or Tapscott, I think?). I'm also not sure that Newnes/Stevens is the best bench combo as who can rotate on into the forward line?

  13. Skippos SM Morgan

Stevens is quite good forward. Well, he's not great in general but he's better forward than most mids while also being a worse mid than most mids so logically I reckon he'd be a reasonable fit in your forward line.

Haynes should be your third tall defender too IMO, not Mackie. Haynes plays genuinely key half the time and third tall the other half, Mackie plays third tall or small.

  14. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Do I not have too many tall backs then? Should I be replacing Haynes or Mackie with a small defender (seeing as I have a plethora of them) - someone like Marley Williams?

  15. Skippos SM Morgan

Nah, because Haynes and Mackie are both capable of playing small too. I'd call Mackie a small back anyway who can play tall if needed.

Haynes isn't like a Richards, he's someone who can play that role if needed (to a slightly lesser standard) but can also defensively play the same role as a Williams too. He's versatile in that regard

  16. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Okay then. So what about the FP role. Is Bewick capable of that, or have a got a choice between real lemons there.

Here is my list of reserves for this week. Once you have your list sorted we can get a team together.

    Jordan Roughead
    Daniel Gorringe
    Tory Dickson
    Matt Jones
    Sam Lloyd
    Jarrod Witts
    Alex Johnson
    Blake Acres
    Scott Gumbleton
    Zac O'Brien
    Matt Arnot

  18. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Yeah, thanks Jimmy. So I should have the following reserves available:

    James Gwilt
    Brent Moloney
    Shaun Hampson
    Mark Hutchings
    Rohan Bail
    Jamie MacMillan
    Eli Templeton
    Brent Renouf
    Marley Williams
    Jared Petrenko
    Luke Tapscott
    Sam Colquhoun

  19. jimmy_c8 MC James

FB: Alex Johnson - Jordan Roughead - Marley Williams
HB: Matt Jones - James Gwilt - Luke Tapscott
    C: Zac O'Brien - Brent Moloney - Sam Colquhoun
HF: Sam Lloyd - Scott Gumbleton - Rohan Bail
FF: Tory Dickson - Shaun Hampson - Eli Templeton
Ruc: Jarrod Witts - Mark Hutchings - Jamie MacMillan

Inter: Jared Petrenko - Daniel Gorringe - Blake Acres - Matt Arnot (Sub)

Just quickly put this together, Renouf the only one to miss

  20. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Looks good. Not the first or last time Renouf will fail to find a slot in the team, you'd think.

Hoping Templeton goes well. Doubt he'll get much game time this season, but I thought he'd played pretty well for St Kilda before he broke his arm.
