Round 1: Best - Messi. Most players were picked up about when they should've been, so the greater player wins the day. Worst - Higuain. Just don't think he's as good as the rest and probably could've been left until at least late in round 2. Special mention for Ramos because I just don't really see the logic in picking up a right-back so early, Lahm at least can cover both sides. Round 2: Best - Probably Eto'o for how late he was picked up, Casillas a very good pick first up as well. Worst - Pepe Reina. There's just a bucketload of keepers around his level IMO, probably could've waited and picked up someone of similar quality two rounds later. Will continue on, I imagine/hope it'll get easier from here.
So many picks which are so close now though. Worst won't really apply much anymore but you can get some gun picks that no1 has thought of.
Round 3: Best - Alves I reckon. Just a world-class player who could've easily gone when the likes of Lahm, Cole, Ramos, Maicon etc. were taken. Worst - Otamendi. An interesting pick, sure. But I don't think he's quite proven himself to be in the same echelon as most of those who went this round. Joe Hart going so early doesn't really seem right to me either.
Round 4: Best - Mertesacker, he's just an absolute lump of a man who should be regarded as a world-class centre back by now. He's never really had a quality partner to take him to that next level though. Cambiasso not a shabby pick either given how he performed with Inter last season. Worst - Huntelaar. He's just never looked that great to me, had potential but never really delivered. Not a fan of Mexes either. He's just a shadow of the player he once was, would've been fine if you could pair him with a quality player, but as the first CB for the team I imagine some extra cover might be needed.
Round 5: Best - Yaya Toure, he's just got that strength and versatility that makes me like him. A pretty well-rounded player who I dare say could fit into anybody's squad. Worst - Balotelli or De Jong. They aren't bad players as such, but they'll spend half the season suspended, and I'm not sure that's what you want from someone who should theoretically be your 5th best player.
Round 6: Best - Pato, it might be with a touch of bias that I say this, but he's just a joy to watch. Capable on both flanks or up front, he's one of the more skillful players out there. Nasri was a pretty smart pick as well, particularly if he plays anything like he has been this season. Worst - Hazard. It's just a couple of seasons early. From what I gather he turns into some sort of gun in FM, but he isn't one at the moment.
Round 7: Best - Kolo Toure is probably the most solid pick of the lot. IMO he's a better pick than the likes of Garay, Skrtel and Heinze who went earlier on. I rate the likes of Totti, Giggs and Zanetti, but they're all well past their prime. Worst - Cheik Tiote. He's gone before quite a few central midfielders who I won't point out.
I signed him from Liverpool for 47.5m Just won the European Player of the Year for me too. But it is 2014 in my game now. Anyway, glad no pick of mine has been in the worst picks. At least I'm doing something right.
Wish people would stop saying hes had a good season. He had a good first couple of months Disagree that Hazard is a worse pick than Heinze
