Must be one of the only people to have seen this movie.......................and think it was complete shit. Every review I've seen, professional or patron, has been positive. It's even nominated for an Oscar. I thought it was terrible. It was overdrawn. And the plot went nowhere. The precipitation of a massive firefight because Waltz's character refused to shake hands was about as well-crafted as a Michael Bay flick (from which it seemed at differing times, Tarantino may have derived some inspiration. I can only assume given how horrible it was) You could almost hear the thoughts that were going through his mind when trying to contrive an ending. "Well, there obviously has to be a massive gunfight. But how to seamlessly segue into it." Apparently he landed on, a hand shake. Now I don't even know wtf he was doing with that reference to Dumas. I mean he obviously wants us to notice that the author of The Three Musketeers was also the author of The Count Of Monte Cristo. Quick tip Quentin, when you make a movie about revenge, try to resist the temptation to reference the classics. Especially one of the greatest stories ever written on the subjects of revenge and disenfranchisement. It may draw unfavourable comparisons in the mind of the viewer. And Tarantino's appearance in the film itself ought to disqualify this movie from any award. It was reminiscent of sitting through his tortured and cliched portrayal of "Jimmy" in Pulp Fiction. 6/10 because I'm feeling generous. I've actually heard people saying this is better than Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds.
I don't deny that I have a bit of the contrarian in me but that's certainly not why I disliked this film. I disliked it because I genuinely thought it was shit. Over-hyped shit, but shit nonetheless.
i thought the fact he said dumas was black was ample reason why he referrenced it? also the refusal to shake his hand was there cause surely you could see that candy himself was going to do something to waltzs character, well imo anyways
Yeah those are some odd points to pick at - Dumas being black was said, and Tarantino lives to reference classic works in his films (which are all his films are really, homages to classic genres but taken extravagantly over the top). And I think trying to rip him off for a large sum of money and wasting his time were reason enough to start the gun fight. Do agree that is was heaps bloated though, should have just cut out the whole miners segment.
Ya, Avatar was overrated..7/10 for me.. I mean technically/visually it was brilliant. And I very much liked the first half. But the 2nd half was the same shit as most Hollywood sci-fi action movies.
Yeah. It's the copies that get sent to the Oscar voting delegates I'm pretty sure. Hence the for your consideration.
Avatar was pretty average. It's pochafuckinghontas with blue cunts, big deal. It was impressive visually but wasn't actually a great movie.
No surprises there, any movie with black people getting tortured is going to score high in Gemmell's books.
