Yeah would be interesting to see where he fits in for post 1990 in terms of greatest players. Would he make top 30?
An absolute icon. He's under-appreciated as well. Ironically, he's the epitome of where hard work will take you because he's not as naturally talented as some of his peers, but you don't play for Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan, as well as captain your country, unless you're a bit good.
I dont even think it matters. Plenty of players who have more complete games. Just because he is a top crosser doesnt mean all of a sudden he is a great of his era IMO. Like in basketball there are plenty who have a similar one sided game but go nowhere being ann atg on the back of their performances alone.
This tbh. He has worked for absolutely everything he can do, and it's apparent. His absolute love for the game is obvious, and he is a huge role model to people, for his immense effort, if nothing else.
It's a lot more worth while to have more varied skill sets on a faster moving game with half the players on the go on a relatively tiny playing surface Don't think bb is the best sport compare a footballer to by a long way
Yeah I know. I just wanted to know where you guys would rate him both in terms of a positional rank and a overall rank comparing him to only those in the modern era.
I'd probably say no to post 1990. I've just thrown some names out quickly, and I'm sure some don't deserve to be there, but there are definitely others I've missed. Xavi Iniesta Messi Cristiano Ronaldo Casillas Buffon Cannavaro Zidane Ronaldo Kaka Ronaldinho Henry Maldini Rivaldo Figo Matthaus Roberto Carlos Romario Kahn Schmeichel Raul Eto'o Ibrahimovic Dunga Dani Alves Piqué Puyol Ramos Lucio Cafu Deco Del Piero Seedorf Baresi Nesta Pirlo
