Once the current round of pre-season matches have been completed, I will start on simming Season 6 of Seasonal Rugby proper. I will have a look through the contracts thread to see whether it would be more appropriate to go through with 6 teams or 4. Given the general lack of activity, at this stage it is highly likely that I will select the teams and you'll have to suck that up. It will be sporadic, but it'll get something progressing. As I recall, for the 6 team comp: Hurricanes - 20 players (23 inc. Cnuts players) Sharks - 23 players (25) Gamblors - 29 players Crabs - 29 players Vikings - 25 players (29) Immortals - 26 players (28) There's a couple of new people who've signed up for CPL who might be convinced to do registrations, but realistically none of them should sign for the Crabs.

I reckon you should go with the 6 teams but also let players who haven't signed contracts play for whoever they last signed one for if necessary, but with a nerf. You could revist the amount of teams after the season so we can see how much support each team had and whether it was worth continuing all of them. You've definitely got enough regos for six teams, picking uncontracted players would be fine in the circumstances IMO. Good call on you doing the lineups to avoid bottlenecks waiting for them too.
Yeah, just with the Immortals, they might have to take players previously contracted to the Spartans, I guess. Not that many players are necessary. The alternative is to only sim first grade given how few people are active.
Yeah I always considered "Gamblers club cricket" to consist of former Lions players too, even though the Gamblers-Lions link was a bit weaker than the Immortals-Spartans one. I'd like to see reserve grade still simmed, but I'd choose keeping all six teams around for at least one more season ahead of it if I had to choose.
You should try and send some PM's out about how SR is relaunching as well as CPL (though hard to really get people engaged that aren't actively involved). I think sending people PM's does send them an email and I bet there's probably a lot of people who left the forum but might be interested in returning if there's something to return for.
I get the scheduling would suck a bit but 5 might still be the number to work with. Could maybe even work with 6 if "borrowing" Nippers and Trojans players was a thing.
This is outstanding news. Here I am just obsessively reading cpl threads when I've never done any cpl. Need something to post about!
