AWTA. It's not just the side, but depth. Gonzo, Cribb, Boland and myself are all vying for opening positions.
What would the teams look like anyway? For city, I'm thinking: 1. Gonzalez 2. Boland 3. Lewis 4. Hayes 5. Parker 6. Flack 7. Cribb 8. Johns 9. Tyson 10. Hunt 11. Crowley hmmm. What bowlers would tehy have? I'd presume Green, Wilson, Bullpitt, Wilkinson are all country. Ditto Taylor, Emm. Resorted to Hunt and Cribb for the spin with the pace from Tyson, Crowley, Johns, Flack and Gonzo. Armstrong probably with a claim to be there too. Still a pretty strong line up. Country: 1. Speirs 2. Thornton 3. Dempsey 4. Delonge 5. Roberts/Herd/Berkuta/Fung/O'Driscoll 6. Roberts/Herd/Berkuta/Fung/O'Driscoll 7. Roberts/Herd/Berkuta/Fung/O'Driscoll 8. Wilson 9. Bullpitt 10. Wilkinson 11. Green Yep. Let's break em up.
Johns & Boland are country IIRC. What would Wilkinson and Wilson count as? Given they both live in Queensland...
We're not going to split up in 5-day cricket. Ever. I can see merit in splitting us up for the Rossleigh Trophy (one day comp), but I think it's more a case of us having immense depth than being ridiculously strong, TBH. There's no advantage in having more than eleven gun players. Our OD Second XI would demolish that of other provinces but I'm not convinced our First XI will do the same.
Nah. Split up for both imo. Still come together for origin mid-season but provincial championship you should. Origin should be like the british lions tours.
Well I'd say Con (he was actually NSW's 12th man once) but he lives in Canberra IIRC which would be country too. Where does Jimmy live?
City has absolutely no keepers then? Am I'm the only one out of them who actually lives in the city? Grew up mostly in Newcastle (moving back and forth between there and the city), so I'll probably stay country - would be quite interesting to see 5-6 keepers fighting for the country spot and none for the city.
