If being in a moon boot is a "sore foot", and having a badly damaged shoulder is a "sore knee" then yeah okay. They clearly won't be playing at 100%. That's why there's cover for them. There was no cover for Farah or Gallen in Game 1 because there was no doubt they were going to play. The situation doesn't rest on those two anyway. They're just yet more concerns on an already significant injury toll. And the Morris boys for all the good they did still let in two relatively soft tries.

Absolute nonsense. On what basis is Cherry-Evans the better option? Cronk has the runs on the board and the combinations of over a decade of playing together. We saw what happened when he went off the field. QLD's right edge was completely ineffectual. I don't doubt Cherry-Evans has it in him but at this stage it's not even a contest. Calling Cronk a passenger is ridiculous. He has more try assists and line break assists in Origin than any other half in the last 8 years apart from Thurston and Lockyer. That's not nothing. He's produced match and series winning plays. It's not as simple as throwing in a great club half and expecting him to replicate it. The rise is huge particularly when you're playing with new and unfamiliar combinations. That's part of why Cronk is valuable to this side. Cherry-Evans will have two or three injury-restricted training sessions with this spine. I don't care how good a club halfback he is, it's a very different situation than having the usual suspects who know each other's games inside and out.

I think you're grossly underestimating not just the injuries but also the disruptions to the camp.

Now they're saying Cherry-Evans jogged at training this arvo and apparently is improving. Inglis didn't train. Slater only did the warm up.

Heard Nate on TripleM tonight, said DCE did straight line running.

I'm actually interested in how he goes in a situation where he has 2 dominant playmaker in the spine with and he doesn't have to carry the team on his back.

It does suit that he is paired with Thurston as he is stronger when attacking the Right edge. Having Thaiday and Hodges out there should give him some comfort too.

If they lose then blame the loss on injuries, it's a fair argument.

All I'm saying is QLD will milk it for everything it's worth & it's gonna be fucking tiresome, actually scratch that already is. You've already started labelling every cunt and their dog who's carrying a bruise into the game & the game hasn't even been played yet.

Shut down Hayne and hope Thurston has a good game, and we'll win. Easy peasy.

What's tiresome is your continual double standards, and disingenuous form of argument. Yeah every cunt with a bruise. Cause that's an accurate assessment of the situation.

No what's really happening is some Blues fans don't like the idea of finally winning a series but against an under-strength and injury-riddled QLD side. That's understandable because there's always the question in the back of your mind as there was in mine when we bested you without Hayne and Gallen. Which is why several of you, Lukic, SP and yourself, are playing these injuries down with cheap and crappy euphemisms.

But I like the conclusions you draw. If you lose, blame it on the injuries like I did cause that's fair (apparently saying this before the game isn't preemptive) but just don't go on about it cause that's tiresome, and certainly don't mention it before the game because that's preemptive. You should take up gymnastics with contortions like that.

Yeah, this is absolutely true. It's different to last year's situation though.

To win eight in a row and then beat an injury-ravaged team... that's not actually very likely to be because of the injuries because it's such a continuation of the trend.

When you lose nine in a row and then finally win when the opposition is ravaged, it's much more likely to be the cause rather than incidental. It's already to a point where winning Origin, while it'd be a massive massive relief of pressure, would feel somewhat hollow just because Queensland still have the bragging rights for winning so many series in a row prior. Add in the fact that Queensland are decimated and Queenslanders will have an easy way to deflect the loss. Furthermore, if we happened to then lose again next year, it'd become "Queensland have won 10 of the last 11 series, only losing when they were decimated by injuries to key players in 2014". It sucks a lot more for us to win against a depleted side, because it could so much easily be dismissed as a fluke. When we when we want it to be a proper win, so I'd actually much rather Queensland at full strength so it really means something and doesn't feel at all hollow.

Win 3-0 and it becomes much harder to do that :p Mind you I think it'll take Thurston or Smith breaking their arm for that to happen and that sort of undermines the whole project.

I've felt aggrieved since last year about not winning the shield back so a win against a C-grade side would just be justice in my opinion. It'd be gratifying.

All I'm saying is QLD will milk it for everything it's worth if we do stop the consecutive series wins, not that it's not a fair excuse but the reality is IMO if we accept injuries as a legitimate reason then the rot should've & would've stopped last year, again IMO.

If you want to talk about double standards go back and look at your replies to my comments on the Hayne & Gallen injuries @ the time and from there out. You dismissed them every single time, it's only now they seem to have become valid because they align with your views on QLD's injuries and what it does to their chances. Dishonesty.

    This is a joke right?

    Fair enough, I stand corrected.

I really only remember your comments earlier in this thread when you were pushing me on the matter.

    I'm happy to concede when wrong, it's you who has the issue and continually tries to project your insecurities on to me. As seen below in the dribble you spat after I clearly pointed out you were wrong;

No, you're really not happy as evidenced by the dozens of examples I could give where you've been proven wrong and either ignore it, or obfuscate it, or and most commonly, try to maintain your rectitude.

When I come across someone who upon being shown right there in black and white what he said, then proceeds to take himself out of context by highlighting only the first half a sentence and ignoring the second half which completely changes the meaning, I know I'm dealing with someone who doesn't like to admit they're wrong.

And as a coda, yes I misworded that and should've corrected it. The main string of my point remains, however.

You are the one I notice bringing it up the most, TBH.

Who do we think is going to play lock? I think it'll be Gillett.

  19. Cribbage RG Cribb

Reckon Gilllett will be named there but Thaiday will actually play there, like the Broncos setup.

  20. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Mm. Yeah that's probably the likeliest given that Thaiday will obviously move up front with Lillyman after 20-25. I can't see Guerra getting a starting birth at the expense of Gillett whose just been promoted to the run on.
