Menzel as a 19-year old should still be rated highly, plus huge upside if he stays on the park. This ACL is the last one, he will play 200 games for us.
Serviceable is so rough on him, he was looking so good before the ACL. Bagged 5 against a grand final worthy Collingwood the week before it happened IIRC.
Morabito's in the same boat re: being rated as a 19 YO but I reckon they'd be similar. Mora the higher pick but Menz's performance was good. Morabito statistically wasn't great but had a lot of impact; really rated his work.
12 kicks, 4.5 marks, 1.5 goals, just under 2 tackles a game. It's really not great. I can't allocate x-factor points unfortunately.
If a 19 year old small forward was running around kicking bags against powerhouse sides and averaging 1.5 goals a game you'd say he's gonna win a Brownlow, but because its Menzel and we rate him you have to find a way to shoot him down. As I've said multiple times, his real value came from his off the ball work anyway.
Yes Mousey, I don't rate Menzel because you like him. He's from South Australia ergo, I like him. I'm more a SA players supporter than a crows supporter ffs. And I assure you, in the 'career mode' database of this that I'll be releasing, his potential will be high; because his performance indicates he's going to be very good. He'll also have high injury proneness mind. Fact of the matter is, the fact that he's 19 is irrelevant to grading him in this. I'm grading players on ability, his statistics if he were 26 are mediocre, he'll be treated the same as a 26 year old in grading on the park, current, ability. I assure you, his rating for characteristics to do with off the ball work will be high. Ugh. I've got to be impartial here. I'm pretty sure I've done a good enough job here. I don't have a reason to underrate any players. You're making it difficult as it's essentially 'he doesn't rate geelong player through the roof MUST BE BIAS MUST HAVE HIDDEN AGENDA when it's far from that.' It's really frustrating.
I know how you rate them, it's the same as a real footy match today, but whenever Jager and I talk up Menzel you stride in and try to put him down. Probably because you dislike our bias or whatever you said last week and I'd say it's a deliberate attempt to be in opposition to us to enhance the perception that we're biased. The fact is, before his knees blew, he was one of the most exciting prospects in the game - and for reason. I don't give a shit how he's rated in this, I'm talking as a player in general. I know it's in the CPL subbie, but we didn't even mention ratings, we're talking about him as a player.
