    Pretty much.

Using me is a poor example, my player is a distant second to me than the club. I wouldn't care if I didn't play at all if it benefited the club.

But if it was somebody else I'd say no. The guys who have stayed at the Saders so far and said they are going to stay I'm not going to sell them down the river just because I want to win more games next season.

What if they were happy to play ALC? What if the club meant as much to them as well?

What if they were your Pumas counterpart?

This isn't really what I'm talking about though. You bringing a player to the Saders which would put you in ALC would be dire for the competition, whether you liked it or not.

I'm sure there are guys here that wouldn't mind playing ALC. That still doesn't mean that I'm going to actively look for somebody to replace them.

I know, the ALC batsmen have a hard time scoring runs as it is. :p

Basically, the BS would be at its best standard if the best 99 players were playing in it each week. The more clubs that recruit excess players the further we move away from that standard and the less ideal it is. Obviously that's not what Cribb is aspiring to as naturally there are always players in seconds who would make first grade at other sides. However, in recent seasons its moving towards a point where some second grade sides could compete with some BS sides, which while not unfathomable from a reality perspective is not ideal from a competition integrity viewpoint imo. Though the way in which it happened was fine. Howe was a rookie who came good, BTF went inactive and got dropped etc. However, from the sounds of it.. some teams are actively recruiting (or would actively recruit) to the point where their ALC side could consider making a hypothetical push for a finals spot in the BS (slightly exaggerated). How is that in anyway ideal?

Are teams with declining inactives (the type who are happy enough to sign a contract every season but never hang around) resigned to keeping them signed and not recruiting to find a player who actually contributes to the forum though?

If the league is already imbalanced, how is rewarding retention going to help rebalance it? In an ideal market, the market will find its balancing point naturally.

Should actually just let every team keep a core group of 5-11 guys and then have a draft for the rest of cricsim.

Yes but it's not an ideal market because the clubs don't actually have anything to offer.

If the difference between playing ALC and playing BS was the difference between living in your parents' basement and buying a two story house with a pool and a sportscar like it would be in reality then the market would even itself out.

If I'm following this right then you can recruit a replacement for the inactive player - provided the recruit isn't a BS standard player. Don't think Cribb is stopping us from 'growing' our own players to replace inactive ones either.

We don't have enough active members of the forum for each club to have 22-24 active players, so yes, pretty much. It's much better for the competition for the Allstars to have Bullpitt and the Cyclones to have Doog than the Allstars to have Doog and no-one to be able to sign Bullpitt. Every club has a few inactive players, and recruiting from other clubs to replace them is an even more short-sited shit cunt act that recruiting in order to put BS players in ALC.

Clubs are just being punished for having a good group of members

Calling bullshit on the Saders not jumping at the chance of better players.

Related to Heef's point - the timing of the thing. You've said that this won't force anyone to move, so it'll effectively be a restriction on transfers rather than skill. So that means that teams that took advantage of ruthless recruiting before the ban will be made better off with official backiong. For example, last season the Vipers signed two of the best players there are, relegating two decent players to ALC, not because they needed to but because they wanted to go for the title. That'd be almost certainly banned under the new system. But because they'd already done that, it'd mean they'd be allowed to sit pretty at the top while not allowing other clubs to challenge them.

Reading through the last few pages it's pretty obvious what clubs would be cunts.

  19. Cribbage RG Cribb

Who would that be? It wouldn't be Storer and Devonshire would it - the players who went to the Allstars and ended up in ALC there instead?

There has been nothing wrong with the Vipers recruitment at all. They actually have very poor depth tbh.

But no one else can recruit anyone to beat the Vipers because that'll make their ALC team stacked :sarcasm:
