Hawks prem i've conceded is forwards, most definitely. Although with a midfield of Crawford, Lewis, Mitchell, Vandenberg, Hodge & Sewell you'd be crazy not to concede that it was a defensively proficient midfield. Even the small forwards (Bateman, Ladson, Osbourne) all played a defensive foil to the forwards. Collingwood's is a little more baffling; their midfield is unidimensionally attacking.
Premierships bring in fans. Have a look at Carlton's spine, that's the issue. Yes, their midfield is very, very offensive minded, which is stupid considering the defenders behind them too, but they're still a damn fine team. The current zone tactics I think is a good example of what I'm saying too. Its almost like they've decided that the best kind of defence is offence.
This is true, I'll agree, but who does this work? It's the midfielders. They're in the action the most, and they can turn that pressure into attack. Defensive mentality is carried through your midfielders, which is why they're more important, why they're better players. They work both ways, defenders like Glass do not.
To be fair a spine of Kreuzer - Jamison - Henderson - Waite - Resting ruck is better than plenty of premiership teams' Some of the best small forwards in the league and passable small backs. The problem lies completely in the middle. It's something I think North will go through soon too, with Swallow and to a lesser extent Cunnington being the only defensively proficient ones there.
Awesome discussion though. Love this shit. Need an afl subforum now IMO. Mouseh to man up and volunteer to help with ratings
Yeah, this is the reason why North fans overrate their list. They're all too similar a player and it'll hurt them. Would be sick. We'd be able to talk about so much more. I was gonna volunteer to do Geelong but thought a) I'd have some bias, and b) I'm on a simming spree right now and I'd rather not let anything get in the way when I have my free time.
I seriously think afl discussion would rival league discussion in posts per day. If you want to, it'd be gun re: geelong. Theo's list was fucking dope with no bias and he did richmond. But only if you want to/have time. Other cunts to volunteer
When are you looking at having the player ratings done by? Getting y wisdom teeth out tomorrow and will have a few days where I'm doin nothing.
Skip, is it only ratings out of 100 or are we doing all stats? If only out of 100, give me a team or two to do.
They'll take me awhile, 2 weeks at least. There'll definitely be teams for you to do. Let me know if you're keen/when. Yep. Sending soon. Just out of 100 - I'll centre the stats around your rating. Which one'd you like.
Oh, my bad. Point still stands No! It's not that - It's that I know you're new to the sport so i'm unsure if you'd be able to rate a full list of 46 players out of 100. You're free to though, I'll happily send one over
