Dave's dig on the Eagles

    Tops. That is all.

    Still not playing their best footy, and yes they played against a team of under 8's last night but their play looked alright, finally starting to find some rhythm. Still not convinced with Bailey either... doesn't really have a place in the team.

    Also with Dave Williams back next week, Bani to reserve grade and D Williams to take his place, our PL backlines still tops.

    First half was great but we made too many unforced errors in the second. Still we're improving each week so I'm not overly concerned.
    Bailey didn't have a great game but showed glimpses of what he is capable of. I do think he'll turn out to be a good buy.
    Souths really were rubbish and whilst it's all well and good to have these huge Polynesian players in your team it doesn't help if they can't hold onto the ball.

    Stewart seems to always be in the right place and the right time. Not saying it to be against him, I really rate him.

    I had Watmough in my hated team cause I just can't bring myself to like him. He is an awesome player though and I'm glad he's at Manly.
    A non bias view that he's one of the best ball runners going around but as a person would be a total ****. (ex girlfriend to confirm)

    And that's about where his talent ends.

    But good game from Manly anyway. Officially back now IMO. Probably too late to win the Minor Premiership, but you'll be there at the end.

    Let's not get carried away just yet. They've beaten two bottom 8 teams. Let's wait and see how tehy go with the next 3 weeks of Cows in Townsville and then the big guns in Brisbane and Melbourne.

    Disagree re Watmough, I think he offers a lot more than just running through holes in the defence. He does have lapses in defence himself at times though and does give away too many penalties unfortunately.

    Exactly. IMO, he gets overrated heaps by the media, fans, etc.

    He's decent, but there are better 2nd rowers around.

    Agreed.

    He always shines against the lower teams as he is good at running gaps and taking advantage of sloppy defence, but in rep games, that happens a lot less and he becomes pretty useless. His defence and discipline is a liability as well.

    Suits Manlys style of play and great at setting up his outside men but yes I wouldn't be picking him in a rep side.

    Yeah. The weak points in defence are just not there at origin level with the qld pack. He can't isolate a weak point.
