I'm actually very surprised as well, the weather effects look great and I hope they really are dynamic in affecting the way the ball moves in different conditions. Hopefully the gameplay follows this standard and it could be the best cricket game to date.

  3. Gazza GJ Weaver

Yeah it says that they will be dynamic which is good to hear. It all comes down to the gameplay now. If that's good then it will easily be the 2nd best cricket game ever made. (Behind SW '99 obv)

They released the bowling controls somewhere I'll have to dig to find them.

    Found it:

These are the main controls for Pace Bowling.

    Pre-Bowl
LB/RB button - change between over and around the wicket
    X – Rub/Shine Ball

Pressing Y/B/A will determine a length of the Pitch,
    Y being Full,
    B being Short and
    A being Good –
this is the range of length you are aiming for. Pressing this will start the bowling run up.

    Bowling Phase
Right Analogue Stick DOWN (hold down) - this will make the bowler jump - - you will need to time this well, as it will affect where your bowler plants his front foot.
Too early and that bouncer you wanted to deliver with your 2m tall bowler isn't going to be as effective, too late and you've got yourself a no ball.
Also, the speed you do this will add extra effort to the delivery (albeit at the expense of some stamina)

RAS UP – This will deliver the ball, when you release it and what position you push to, will determine the ultimate line and length of the delivery inside your original Length Range.

    Example:-
if you pressed B for short delivery and then you wait late before pressing RAS UP this will give you the shortest possible delivery with your bowler.

If you push directly up on the RAS your line will be just outside off stump, pushing up to the left or right of that position will affect the line accordingly.

Left Analogue Stick – Determines how you hold the ball and will affect how the ball moves in the air of off the deck. Depending on the condition of the ball will dictate what you might need to the both LAS and RAS to compensate for movement.

I realise that’s a bit to take in, but we are going to be layering these controls through the difficulties – so to start with you will be able to deliver fairly good deliveries with just the following.

Press A button to start run up. Pull back on RAS, Push Forward on RAS – that’s it. Get the timing right and you will deliver a ball at a Good length just outside off stump.

The easier levels will have more basic players, they'll have slower bowl speeds, less swing making them easier to control. But as the levels progress the batsman are better, and as your bowlers get better you need to have better control of swing and also your line and length.

    Sounds intense

Plus no markers on the pitch for the batsmen, haven't found much on the batting controls a part from left analogue stick will be used for feet placement and right analogue stick will be used for the shot placement and power of the stroke. Also, there will be no power button as such for lofted shots I don't think.

Will make batting a lot harder. More realistic though

Yeah hoping it's more fluent in terms of the ball and bat with edges and the like. Apparently your controller may vibrate when going through bat and pad but you may not have edged it and vice versa which is awesome if the animations and mechanics are fluent. Not holding my breath though.

Sounds awesome. A lot less arcade-like.

  11. Gazza GJ Weaver

Would be cool if the ball hit the bat it would vibrate so if you want to review you can know full well you hit the ball.

  12. BMT BMT Con

Yeah that's what they've implemented and also there's the option to walk as a batsman when there are no more reviews left

    Oh my goodness.

Manual appealing will be good too, if you over appeal umpires will get annoyed and will be more prone to not giving the closer calls your way. That will stop the Indians from button mashing the moment ball hits the pad online.

This game is sounding like a dream. Any chance of a release date?

Before October definitely. I think they're hanging back to see what the other game does.

Spin bowling controls plus some questions answered:

Unlike pace bowling you choose your line as well as your length before the run up. LAS held up straight will be aiming at offstump, moving it left or right will change the line across the crease. Holding that and then Pressing Y, B, A will determine your length.

As the bowler runs up you rotated the LAS in the direction you want to spin the ball, There is an ideal rotation time to get the most out of your bowler, then the bowler will automatically go into his delivery and you must flick a direction on the RAS to determine the type of delivery, this will give quicker darted in bowls, floating, drifting, wind will play it’s part and working out the condition of the pitch and where you want that ball to land are crucial.

With the differences in bowling controls, it’ll take some practise to switch between the two, there are people in the office that are good and one and not so good at the other.

I will go backwards through the posts and answer what I can over the next day or so (sorry, I actually have a day off today, so will not be around much this evening)

But as this has just popped up, i'll answer this now.

We think we've covered all pitch types, also, each end can have different characteristics, so it might be better to bowl a Spinner from a certain end for example.

Yes we will have a distance meter.

There were a few questions back through the treads about pace,

in terms of different positions on the crease and speed.

Yes you can change where in the crease you want to deliver, so changing the angle to the batsman will be simple.

Speed of delivery is changed from the standard pace of your bowler by the speed you pull back on the RAS before delivery, pulling back slowly will take pace off the ball, just like in real life you can’t pinpoint the exact speed though and will take practise to get right.
