Gemmell's Go on the Broncos

I'm basically just gonna have my say on each of the Bronco players, no doubt I will get lazy half way through this.

 

1. Karmichael Hunt




Everybody is saying how he really looks off his game and that he doesn't look happy bla bla bla. He is playing some pretty damn good footy at the moment. He is looking very dangerous in attack and the defence is struggling to read him. Against the Rorters he just strolled over because they hung back expecting him to pass. The only thing lacking from his game is his kick returns at the moment. I think Origin is going to be a massive boost for Hunt. Get him pumping with the origin adrenaline and he will start to really fire up. I have no doubts once Origin is over he will just go ape shit for us. But he also needs to work on his one on one defence, I know its ****ing hard to stop someone running at you fullpace and you have to guess what they are going to do, but he has made some poor decisions with going with his shoulder instead of trying a ball and all tackle. But I have no real complaints about his form.

2. Antonio Winterstein


I really have no idea with this ****. He reeks of shitness, yet has been pulling some great performances out of his ass. My main fear is that his game against the Dragons is his standard shithouseness. He looks like a little bitch in defence, but he seems to be pretty slippery when he makes little sideways scoots. His kick returns are Boyd-like which is disgraceful. He has struggled so bad under the high ball so far this season. During Origin is going to be his big test. If he starts stringing some pure shit **** performances I'd be dropping him and moving Michaels to his wing. IMO he is a shit **** in a purple patch of form, flash in the pan etc etc

3. Steve Michaels


Everyone has been bagging the **** out of this little ranga **** for no good reason, apart from him not being a Renouf/Hodges. His ball carrying has been great and he has been eating up the metres up the left side. His defence was shown up against the Dragons a bit, but with a side of Wallace/Michaels/Winterstein it's always going to be targeted. Michaels really has the potential to be a great player, he is never gonna be a superstar like a Hodges/Folau but he has it in him to get a few origins and tests under his belt during his career. But the only way he is going to do that is on the wing. He has blistering pace which would be deadly outside a good centre. So if we find that awesome centre I'd be moving him out to the wing so his pace can be utilised to the max. Lockyer/Wallace need to be using him as a hole hitter and giving him line balls. He is the exact opposite of Hodges as Hodges needs room to move and make his own holes, where Michaels needs to be running into a gap at full pace. All in all, he just needs to work on his ball security and he will do us the job all season.

4. Justin Hodges



Not much I can judge off just 2 games you ****ing moron ****. If you get suspended again you'd be earning your spot in first grade from QCup. Hodges was at his best when he was playing on the wing and his spot wasn't 100% secure, I think he needs a reminder saying "Listen ****, we have Israel to play at right centre if you wanna keep ****ing around" He needs to work on his dicipline and defence. His attack seems ok without being brilliant, he has a big game around the corner one feels. It's good to see him passing more now he has a quality winger outside him. Hopefully he has a good test/origin and comes back with full confidence.

He has probably been on par with Michaels, but is a much better player than Michaels so he gets rated harsher.

 

5. Israel Folau


I really didn't want this monkey in our side, I was of the opinion he was an over-rated hack not worthy of the headlines and definitely not worth the money we are investing in him. But he has turned me(Not gay, he aint' no Carroll) around. He is making the opposition play down the other side of the field, and is always attracting multiple defenders when he scoots. He needs to get into dummy half a bit more, IMO. I really think we aren't using him enough on the 5th tackle. If I were Henjak I'd be telling Lockyer/Wallace to kick to him every time we are in their 20. There is no such thing as under using a talent like that, if we kick him 10 times a game, he will score 2 or 3. I think we kicked to him once against the Roosters. No real criticism on him apart from his defence, but that won't be a major issue now he is on the wing. Keep it up princess.
