Ok; what do we think the fates of the 4 wounded characters are? My thoughts (Spoilers in White Text): Will: Survive. Will Graham is an important cog in other Hannibal Lector media so it is hard for me to think he is dead. I think after his recovery he'll retire from the FBI/University and will become somewhat of a counselor. He may even use information from his patients to perform vigilante actions against people; maybe even murders. He will dive into Hannibal's past to try and predict his current whereabouts which will lead to him capturing him in the climax of Season 3. Jack: Survive. Not only is he also involved in further Hannibal Lector media; I think the fact he didn't pull the shard out of his neck is a nod to the goon who did pull the scalpel out of his leg, and thus died from the wound in the previous EP. Whether or not he actually appears on screen in the next season doesn't matter in my book, as he's probably on extended leave from the FBI due to his injuries/his wife's death/suspension due to his actions in attempting to catch Lector. He'll still be mentioned quite a lot IMO. On the other hand; the TV series also seems to me like a parallel reality to the books/Movies. There was even a comment by Bella about Facebook and the use of Smartphones etc throughout the series. that the series is set in present day whereas Red Dragon is set in 1978. This makes me question my opinion on Will and/or Jack's status. Alana: Survive. I think she'll suffer some form of Paralysis from her injuries; which will prevent he from continuing with the FBI. She will possibly take up a job at the University. She will be a constant reminder to Jack and Will of their failure to successfully catch Hannibal; but also a constant motivation to continue to chase him. Abigail: Die/Inconsequential. I don't think her living would add much to the story going forward. Will already has enough motivation to catch Lector without having her around.
First of all - if somebody dies on the show, there's a good chance he/she's not really dead. Cheap trick for the shock value, but the show has shown repeatedly that it isn't above that. Will catches Hannibal eventually, so he lives. Alana and Jack - I don't give a shit. Chilton - still alive. An important dynamic in the saga is how Hannibal (in captivity at the Hospital for the Criminally Insane) keeps getting the upper hand over Chilton in their verbal exchanges. Combine that with the cheap trick proclivity of the show, and you have a Chilton who's not quite dead. Bedelia - waste of space. But the show relies on Hannibal conversing with people to reveal his thought processes, which is the sole reason they need the Bedelia character, at least until Hannibal gets caught and can then converse regularly with the other characters. So we'll have to put up with more mumbling and automaton 'acting' from Gillian Anderson. Clarice Starling - will not make an appearance. The rights to SOTL have not been acquired by the show, and will not be ever. Forget about her. At most we'll get a facsimile of a character who won't be named Clarice, for legal reasons. Cynthia Nixon - I look forward to Hannibal eating her brains out.
Just finished the 2nd season and holy jesus fuck, what a series. Peter Bernardone was a great character, whoever played him was amazing. Completely fell for the whole Will turning into a monster thing and I lost my shit when they dined on what was supposed to be Freddie Lounds. The dead but not actually dead thing was a bit much though.
God damn some of the cinematography/visuals in that premiere. spoilers below and the part where bedelia realises why she's being fed what she's being fed. And all of the subtle in jokes Hannibal makes to himself just so good
Yeah, AWTA. It's not a show you can watch with divided attention. I find myself rewinding and re watching most conversations and monologues.
3rd season is gonna be last as apparntly its been cancelled due to not being able to get the rights to silence of lambs characters for season 4
