...to have never started in an Origin game? I struggle to think of one better. I think he'd walk into the NSW side. Maybe Sterling in 1980. Or perhaps Mortimer in 81. Maybe Stuart in 89.
He should be 'walking' into the Qld side as well IMO. Stuart in 89 is a good call but he was still a tad rough around the edges having not long converted from union. Can't make a call on the other two.
He's a really brilliant player, I love him. I fucking love the halves combination of him and Foran too. That's the best club halves pairing for a very, very long time IMO. We will look back on them like Stuart and Daley, Sterling and Kenny, Langer and Walters IMO.
Still bottles it in pressure situations for mine. Manly had a string of really close games to kick off the season & he came up with some pretty mind boggling decisions and woeful execution in the final minutes of all of them. Still pretty inexperienced in terms of games played but if you're arguing the best ever I think it's fair to be ultra-critical. Too young to have seen the likes of Stuart, Mortimer & Sterling though to make a fair comparison. Hastings is one that always gets brought up by Roosters fans whose opinions I genuinely rate.
And I think there might be a few on here who think the present Cherry-Evans is better than Cronk ever was.
Well I still think Cronk is ahead of him. You can't just take games like last week against a terrible defence and ignore games like the prelim against easts where he couldn't construct a single try despite having more time in the 20 than any team I've ever seen. His kicking to create tries in some games can be horrible. That being said his kicking in play is probably the greatest skill for a team to have, any forward pack could dominate in the Manly jumper thanks to him imo.
