Anyway, what everyone is saying is pretty much right. Would be nice for the findings to come out sooner rather than later though. It'll probably be loss of premiership points and a couple of draft picks. Not too sure whether they will strip Watson of the Brownlow or not.
Well naturally when an investigation is conducted by anyone or anything, the parties involved generally know more than the general public. It's common sense.
I agree - it's not clear cut. There's conjecture about who administered the drugs, players taking supplements outside of the club, whether the drugs were illegal at the time and so it goes. However, there's two fundamental issues here that really irk me. Firstly, the governing bodies. Both codes are trying to sweep this under carpet. Fact. Secondly, although I do agree the ASADA investigation has been farcical... the very fact both clubs involved have engaged in needling programs with shady characters, without informing the governing bodies, outside of the club, without knowing what's actually in the drugs, putting players health at risk (soft tissue damage etc) all the while their coach is taking allegedly, flat out illegal supplements. Regardless of whether it was technically legal at the time or not, I think these kind of practices in themselves are enough to warrant punishment.
It's like how university lecturers can fuck students. It's not illegal - but it's dodgy, and questions are asked if you're busted.
I agree. I think Essendon should face some kind of punishment, and the AFL should of stepped in at the start and come out against these programs that involve injections and all that sport science stuff even if they are perfectly legal.
WADA/ASADA and all them are like the christian lobby though. They've all got an absolute no tolerance issue on doping even if unknown to the player like the christian lobby have no tolerance on many key social issues. The christian lobby try to influence politics and all that and the doping authorities are the same. People need to realise that these blokes are just like those biased right wingers and have blinkers on; there is never an excuse to them - it's bullshit, there's always possibility for an excuse. If a bloke had a schizophrenic inject steroids into them while they slept WADA/ASADA would want the bloke banned. I just don't like them because they're so fucking stubborn and biased. Yeah, doping's bad. But no - we shouldn't let a clearly biased authority enforce rules upon the game. They don't know what's best for AFL, they just enjoy the power trip. /rant
I'm referring to the comment made by the dude that the moment the drugs enter the system absolutely irrelevant of how they got there every single person is gone.
