    They spend a significant portion of the funds they raise lobbying the government to increase tobacco and alcohol taxes, and if their website is anything to go by it probably won't be long before they start lobbying for sugar taxes as well.

    They're as much a political lobby group as they are an actual charity, so I'd really rather have nothing to do with them if possible. Most big charities are tax seekers but they go further in trying to grow the authoritarian nanny state on top of that. I'd be cool with literally any other charity (EDIT: actually ftr I have the exact same gripe with the Heart Foundation), but the Cancer Council really grinds my gears. Even if you don't share my enthusiasm for getting rid of sin taxes, money that people have donated to help cancer patients isn't an appropriate bankroll for political lobbying either way.

    Really finding it hard to pick a winner in tonight's game. Manly have been such an under performing side for a while now and I don't know that their recruitment will change that. I like the additions of Myles and Taupau but their pack still looks light to me. Buhrer is a sizeable loss. And Walker will be all sorts of aids in the halves.

    Canterbury are missing Klemmer but their pack still looks the stronger of the two. I can never tip with confidence against the side with the stronger pack. Thinking the Dogs might just pull an upset here.
