Ignore secondary positions - the kicking bonus should be judged on primary position only and number 12s can sacrifice some attack/defense to boost their tactical kicking if they so wish. It would be farcical to give every back the equal opportunity to kick tactically. Centres and wings should have to sacrifice skills elsewhere to gain tactical kicking prowess.
Giteau is not primarily a 12. You also have more cases of awesome kicking 10s, than you do elsewhere.
Yes but Inside Centres play nowadays like Fly Halfs and often are. Therefore we have the same abilities as them, sometimes possibly stronger runners or tacklers, but kicking is often the same. If anything 12s have better kicking than many 15s because they slot into the first line of attack instead of Fly Halfs sometimes. Leave it as it is and just reduce it from 15 to 10.

Only a limited number of 12s have decent tactical kicking ability and I don't think its unreasonable for people to be able to do that if they so wish - but they should have to expend some attack/defense points. I'm in favour of giving the number 10 a few more points as they will probably have to do the place kicks as well as kick tactically. Wings and centres (especially 13s) should have little to no kicking bonus whatsoever.
That I agree with massively. Here's a compromise perhaps. If you are to have the full kicking points bonus, then either: a) You must've had a kicking ability on the last sim. b) You have to play FlyHalf to a decent extent on the game (over 30 perhaps)
This isn't a bad idea. Then you could still be a number 12 and have the kicking bonus if you put a percentage of your sign up into #10 skillz. Maybe if you have #10 skill between 30 and 50, you get 10 bonus, and if you have > 50 then you get 15 bonus. For Full Back and possibly #9, maybe something similar where between 30 and 50 you get 5 bonus, and > 50 you get 10 bonus. Then for 11,12,13,14 you get no bonus?
Good plan TBF, here's a simplified version! 1) If you have FlyHalf between 30 and 50, you receive 12 kicking points. 2) If you have FlyHalf over 50 points, you receive 15 kicking points.
He should be though - doesn't have the tactical nous to be a fully fledged 10. But that's a discussion for elsewhere! The thing with 12s is that they can either be a flyhalf-style 12 - like McAlister, Barnes or Barkley, or they can be a centre-style 12 like Nonu or de Villiers.
I made this point in the other thread. Not all 12s and 13s play the same way... and there isn;t one way to play 12 or 13 so its hard to differentiate between them. And tbh most 12s could play 13 if they so wished.
The point is that there is a dominant way to play at 12 rather than an only way... and the dominant way in current rugby (especially at the top level) is too play as a kind of centre/flyhalf mix.
