NRL coaches?

I loved Freddy as a player, and he'll probably be a decent coach but he's not proven enough yet. His first full year last year started very well but collapsed halfway through and Fittler couldn't stop the rot. It's just that the Roosters did enough to cement a finals spot before the slide began.

This year he hasn't proved shit yet, so yeah. I think he'll be a good coach one day, but I just don't rate him as highly as you probably do yet.

Taylor on the other hand, IMO, he's a quality coach. He had to do a lot more at Souths to make the finals contenders than what Fittler had to do at an already established premiership-winning club. I mean, let's be honest here... since the Souths came back into the comp, they've been pure shit. But Taylor proved he has the mantle to be a quality coach by turning Parra from spooners to 8th in 06 and then made 7th with Souths in 07, making the finals for the first time since 89 iirc.

08 was a learning curve for Taylor, but IMO at this very moment Taylor has proven much more as coach of South Sydney. In retrospect, I have my doubts about whether Fittler could achieve at Souths what Taylor did because the clubs are very different.

As for Cartwright, well I think he's an excellent coach. He's moved the Titans forward so far in only 2 and a bit seasons. IMO, the Titans would've been guaranteed finals participants on both counts if it wasn't for horrendous injuries which ruined both campaigns. At the rate he's made Titans a genuine force, he's been rewarded with the City Origin coaching spot.

Already established club, not team. TBH, Freddy pulled us out of mega slumps that Ricky and Anderson left us in.

I have no problem with you putting Freddy so far down if it is due to inexperience but to then go and put just as inexperienced Taylor & Carty is ridiculous when they have had no more honorable achievements in coaching then Freddy. You say 2008 was a learning curve for Taylor? I don't see how the same can't be said for Fittler, he worked just as hard to pull a deplorable Roosters outfit out of slumps and bad attitudes, having players like Anasta, Mason, O'Meley and Myles who were used to playing like shit and then walking into rep treams into what they are now (Besides Mason, who will never be anything other than useless) respectable, hard workers, espescially Anasta who was once rated Most overated for what? three years running? into (After working with Freddy relentlessly) one of the top 5/8ths running around at club-level. The atmosphere at our club dropped after Freddy retired as a player and we resorted to buying players even more than what we already did or what was required. When he came back, so did the respect IMO, Roosters will always be one of the most hated, but we have always demanded respect with results and that was returned with Freddy's first full season as a coach where despite losing form at the back end of the season we still gained a position in the top 4.

You say Cartwright would have guaranteed The Titans a finals position if it wasn't for injuries? So he should have FFS, I'm not taking anything away from Carty but any muppet could have coached a team with Matt Rogers, Scott Prince, Anthony Laffranchi, Preston Campbell, Luke Bailey and Mark Minichiello to a finals birth. Despite the team he still had, he was well and truly out of the 8, in 13th, after if you recall, blistering form at the start of the year, even with the injuries they still should have been able to gain a respectable position.

When Taylor went to Souths, so did Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes a Court and an influx of rep standard players, yet Souths till found their way to 14th on the ladder.

Learning curve? Inexperienced? Whether Freddy can turn us around this year and give Mason a kick up the arse will be a big ask.

But thus far in terms of full seasons, results speak for themselves.

He did shit all at the cows. The turn around was because of Graham Murray. I don't like Murray, but I will say that he's a great coach to bring a struggling team up.

Lol Freddy, you could've just said that in response. I would've said 'fair enough' to it tbh, rather than making me read your rant at 1 in the morning. :p
