Were you taking the piss? I remember there actually being an argument on Sidhe in about 2005 between one biased Bulldogs fan and the rest of the forum about whether or not SBW would make a good five-eighth. Of course, he's a much different player now to what he was when he left rugby league.
Actually I was dead serious. I can't remember exactly what the options were but I do recall that they were pretty awful. It was a stupid call because as you say, he is a very different player now than what he was then. He's much more of a ball player these days.
The good thing about this result is that it means we don't have to give Pearce and Maloney credit for any success the Roosters have for the rest of this year. Even a Mortimer/SBW halves combination got the job done.
Watching this now - they're showing it on 9 atm. The Kennedy injury just happened. Deadset never heard a bloke scream so violently at an injury. Assumed he's shattered his leg or something. If that's just a hyperextension, wow. Seen plenty of them and often the blokes are in minimal pain.
Kane Evans would've played tonight if not for the fact that we'd filled up our second tier cap. Napa wasn't even supposed to play either but we luckily got an exemption. No idea how we fucked up the second tier cap so badly... not like we've had mass injuries ala Penrith & Wests.
Has some major truths to it which makes it lolsy though in relevance to everything you've said all year. Also missing the form prop of the competition.
It doesn't have any truth to it. How does beating the Dogs by 2 points prove you are premiership contenders? They were missing players too. Both sides were rocked by Origin and injury. How can you draw any conclusions from that? All it illustrated was how truly innocuous Pearce and Maloney are. Am I supposed to be impressed by the fact that after 15 rounds your list of top 8 scalps is limited to Manly without Brett Stewart, and the Dogs last night? Or the Broncos without Hodges and McGuire? Yeah, really impressive.
It was an impressive win though. Beating the Dogs who weren't missing many and still had their halves (ball players) with a halves pairing of fucking SBW and Mortimer is a good shout.
I agree but it's not at all the sort of game you use to justify your credentials as premiership contenders. I mean, they did have their halves last week and got beaten at home by the Warriors. This mob would probably go better without Pearce and Maloney than they would without SBW.
