    I wonder if he just wants to be seen as more than a winger because centres get paid more. If so that could be fixed - just tell him he's worth more as a winger than almost every centre in the game (which is true IMO, especially if he stops sulking about it) and pay him accordingly.

    I still can't believe wingers are so underrated these days. The crazy shit they have to do, you'd have a star winger before a star centre pretty much every time IMO.

    Its just simple supply and demand. There's just far more serviceable wingers running around than there are centres hence at the top end centres are always going to be paid more.

    Yeah I just fundamentally disagree with this. I'd much rather have Beale playing centre for my side than Pereira playing wing, so I don't think there are more servicable wingers than centres, particularly when you consider that wingers have more influence unless the centre is a complete freak (I'm thinking only Latrell really counts as being worth more than a top winger at the moment).

    The second best centre who actually plays there at club level is probably Manu (or possibly Leilua is we're only talking attack I guess?)

    I'd take a bunch of wingers at my club before taking Manu, unless I was thinking about turning him into a full time fullback which would obviously defeat the premise of the post.

    Anyone else find it odd that everyone in and around the NSW camp is talking about Maloney being the saviour and the essential pick?

    He was a stop gap solution after Pearce pulled out and they’re carrying on like he was a no brainer.

    Maloney AFAIK has been planning a move to SL for ages/finish his career there. I think unlike a lot of English moves this is 100% his choice. He's still a fine player and I wouldn't mind us pulling a Langer to pick him.

    What do people think of Simonssen from the Raiders? He's looked good from what I've seen and figures to be the odd man out for the Raiders when Leilua and Cotric return.

    Wouldn't mind the Tigers trying to sign him to fill our hole on the wing. Ideally we make a play at Radradra if Parra re-sign Sivo.

    They may well have. No NRL side was ever going to get him though. He's been talking about finishing his career in Europe for several years. 33, still in good health and clearly wants to travel.

    It's a massive plus for us Qld'ers (NSW's halves will be pus again), but the game is poorer for him leaving. Despite not really liking him, the guy can play, and he makes many players around him better footballers.

    I never really rated him quite as highly as others and I still largely regard some of his biggest accomplishments as flukes, but I can sure respect a good fluke, and he sure proved me wrong a few times way beyond fluke too. I'm way too big a NSW fan to actually dislike Maloney. May you carve up Super League like no-one has before.
