Cowboys are proving not just critics right but why they are wooden spoon deserving at the moment. Their season is dusted now.
Took 6 rounds to go from premiership favourites to people picking them for bottom 4. I still think they'll make the 8 but if this doesn't wake Green up to the calamitous state of the club, then nothing will.
With a mountain of problems I think one of the first ones to address is to come up with better plays than the continuous block plays in attack that get read with ease.
Crazy stat that the Cowboys have had more play the balls in good ball that any other side in the comp yet have score the 3rd fewest points. Eels the next most, sort of backs up the argument that it's easier to defend on your goal line these days too. https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/stats/teams?sortBy=tackledOpp20
Teams that are gelling in attack use 3 plays, then score, end up rucking it back out off the kick off. Teams that aren't gelling in attack have ended up getting 12 plays and then losing it off the same initial territorial advantage. The amount of fucking off side penalties against teams defending their line has just exaggerated how this stat comes to be really.
Cowboys have made their attack really easy to defend. Several plays last night no one was running hard onto the ball or creating angles it was predictably poor. Scott and Taumalolo made some good busts when they ran hard which they really failed to capitalise on.
Yeh immediately after posting that and thinking about it I guess it really shouldn't be that surprising that the worst attacking sides end up with the most play the balls in the opposition's 20.
