Out of interest Cribb will the North vs South teams change? As at present it would be 2 rep sides vs 4. The South's depth would be crazily better than North's and it is made worse by the fact QLD and GB do not have a massive depth either.
Well you've got Asia's players, even if they play for southern provinces in FC cricket. FTR GB actually have the most depth out of the six provinces now. By the end of the season I think that'll start to reflect more in the BS too as Clough, Verigotta, Ridd etc make their mark. The problem is that we've got six real provinces and the NSW ones are in the middle with two either side.. and NSW City and NSW Country aren't split by north/south as such. There are country players both south and north of Sydney, so they have to be in the same group. Vic+NZ v the rest would be a bloodbath; it makes infinitely more sense to have the NSW teams as south, particularly when you consider Asia and Ireland (potential future provinces) are north.
I would still say NSW as a whole has much more depth than GB. While for the PC they aren't one, it is not reflected in the North vs South series. I do get there is no obvious geographical split for Country and City, making putting one as North more difficult. GB will definitely be getting stronger by the season. As you say there are a good number of players coming through from ALC to BS or establishing themselves in BS this season. It should still be a competitive series either way.
Yeah, NSW have more depth than GB, but NSW City and NSW City don't. We've got a 4/2 split within the six provinces but the Victoria and the two NSW teams only have about 20 players each while both the northern provinces have 30+. It's NZ that makes it unbalanced.
Callum, while we may have less depth, we've probably got a better team on a whole and enough replacements to cover injuries.
Yeah just now. However, as they have 4 teams now they have double the amount of players playing Rep cricket, meaning they are more likely to have quality replacements. I not not worried though, QLD and GB both have good XI's and can put together a very good XI between us.
