To be fair to Moussey, getting guys to do line-ups for the Combined Reserve teams in RU Sim was a disaster as they weren't particularly invested in their 'teams'.

However, it would be a disaster if, say, Youngman was selecting reserves from 2 teams neither of which he's a part of as that would ensure a very low level of participation from the selector.

Your selector should at least play for one of the two host clubs, and then the model may work. Especially with reliable selectors.

    Gun name.

Youngy will have to play for one of the teams his reserve team is associated with, I've already told him this to stop exactly what you're saying happening.

Then this will be true, so lineups shouldn't be much more of a problem than the current BBallSim ones.

I like the sound of option B.

Also Beards finally getting some sort of recognition around this place.

I doubt there will be bias. But you can ensure that you get an active selector by just having veto powers over whoever the presidents choose. But I can say that no Panda should want to play for the Ospreys or the Beards cause they are clearly clubs attached to other teams. And realistically anyone with any team pride would feel the same (unless they are from those clubs).

I actualy gave my opinion on what I thought would be the best way of doing reserves for this competition in the other thread where everyone jst signs 2 contracts one for a Firsts Team and one for a Reserve Team (you can't play in reseres unless you have a first team contract, and you can't refuse to play in firsts if you are called up). That way you can have 5 or 6 reserve teams which allows for mid season expansion and means every player not in a first team gets a start in seconds. You avoid team bias because no team is directly attached to any first grade team. Makes a whole heap more sense to me when you don't have each team with there own reserve club.

Rest assured I will not take my objections out of this thread and I won't go on about them much, I just wanted to raise what I think is a very valid point.

Just like getting guys who play for the Pandas to care what happens to the ospreys or the beards (if we get matched up with them).

The problem I had with that idea was that we could end up with one team having 8 of it's 10 players starting, and they've got 2 eligible players for the round. This way teams are guaranteed to have a certain number of players available and selectors only have to follow one or two teams.

All good mate, I'm all for discussion, constructive criticism is welcome.

One question I'd like to have answered that I feel has been missed in the controversy surrounding reserve grade, but which is equally if not more important...

Aren't an Osprey and a Seahawk exactly the same thing?

  11. Mousey AJ Son

Hunt has the option on who he teams up with, that's why I haven't randomly done it myself. You guys as a club, or Hunt as the owner, can decide which team is best for you.

  12. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Well, exactly. However, if the speed of selection is the main issue - then you've got little argument.

The conflict of interest point is much more valid and important, but to be honest this never became a concern with RU Sim. Just the fact that lineups took a lot of kicking and nagging.

Yeah but someone will have to join up with them, the tigers or the phatoms, either way they won't care about the ospreys.

Also at Heef I recognise the conflict of interest is the biggest point but when I said it Mousey made me feel as if I were questioning his trustworthiness (which I wasn't) and that made me feel bad because I love mousey <3, but in a legal sense a conflict of interest doesn't denote malpractice or even the likelihood of malpractice just the potential for it...

Yeah I'd have virtually no interest in joining up with the Seahawks reserves featuring a few tigers. It'd be a seahawks team primarily. Same for Beards. But I can't think of a better solution so, so be it.

    Cribb WAC :ninja:

Quite. You need to be seen to be doing the right thing. Whether you are doing the right thing or not can often be irrelevant. Perception is everything.

However, no one (as I recall) objected to Hughesy and Cribb selecting in RUSim, but I believe I ensured that they had an off-sider from the other team in their combo. (I think Chewie may have been Cribb's offsider for the Spartans/Vikings combo, for example)

    Really?

Was entirely my point about looking at your example tbh, you made sure the teams were neutral of a particular club, and tbh just because it failed with SR doesn't mean the concept isn't good.

I had come up with team idea but hadn't posted about it :p
