    Loved every minute of it. I'm a pretty big film buff, pretty huge Star Wars nerd and I guessed pretty much every reveal (besides Han's death) prior to watch it but God damn it. What an experience.

    Finn and Rae were so awesome and had perfect chemistry. BP-8 stole my heart, the thumbs up/blow-torch was hilarious. Kylo out Anakin'd Anakin by a million miles.

    Pure cinematic excess in the most glorious fashion. I can't quite decide if I like it more than A New Hope or not. I'll be seeing it again tonight so maybe can get a better idea there.

    It did Star Wars justice.

    Didn't guess the Kylo/Ben reveal, was a big bomb drop for me.

    Rae being a Skywalker makes a lot of sense, but seems too obvious to me.

    100% agree with all of that. I thought Han would die just thinking it through. Harrison Ford would be the toughest actor to lock in to 3 additional films, the biggest risk taker, biggest star so hits harder when they die. It just made sense, but I really hoped he wouldn't.

    I wasn't sure about the choice of actor for Kylo Ren until I realised he's supposed to be a confused, young guy trying to find his place rather than an all out bad mofo. He was fantastic for that - exactly what Anakin should've been like, as you said.

    The experience as a movie alone was fantastic. Great plot, fantastic effects, well directed, great acting. I was just wowed. Its my favourite I think, I'll have to watch it another couple of times to compare to the others - but I think that's the strongest movie as a straight up piece of film.

    Snoke mentioned it earlier in the film to Kylo, but I didn't piece it together before then despite kind of knowing about it.

    Also did you guys pick up the beats it was hitting throughout the pacing of the movie compared to A New Hope?

    I'll test this when it comes out on DVD if a nerd doesn't do it before me, but I'd guess that most of it was within a minute or two of the other.

    - Droid being entrusted with secret data
    - Introduction to Dark side villain
    - Sassy Hero captured
    - Introduction to poor wide eyed country orphan who forms a friendship with droid after claiming it from scavengers
    - Orphan learns of important mission for a good cause that they immediately try to help
    - Escape from danger in the Millenium Falcon with new found friends
    - Entering the Cantina
    - Huge evil war machine revealed and tested
    - Captured by the enemy!
    - Daring rescue!
    - The death of the wise old man
    - The destruction of the evil war machine

    There are other things mixed through, but it was such an excellent sense of hitting those beats and keeping it fresh. I thought Finn was a great character for this and I'm almost certain that by showing us more about Kylo now, he will be redeemed.

    Oh, I meant when Snoke mentioned it it was the bomb drop :p. Han calling him out was amazing though.

    Anyway, can't wait to go see it again in 2D (3D sucks balls) sometime in the next week.

    There is very little doubt in my mind that we will get a Rae/Kylo Vader/Luke moment of "Rae, I am your brother"

    And the reason the Solo's don't know about it is that they think Kylo/FirstOrder killed her, when Kylo in a moment of being a good bloke saved her and left her behind on that planet when she was young. Hence him freaking out about a girl on Jakku and Rae's strong ability in the force.

    Yeah, you can see the parallels very clearly, but as you said they keep it fresh. It doesn't seem like a cut and paste structure, more like homage to the original masterpiece.

    Right? At first I was a little disappointed because I thought this was supposed to be a massive scary bad ass like Darth Vader in the OT. But no they went a different direction, they gave us ROTS Anakin, as he truly should have been.

    Oh right haha. Yeah that was a kind of bomb drop moment for myself. And yeah, callimg him out was sick - especially with Ben rather than Kylo - even if Ben makes more sense it was still badass.

    Oh yeah, that would make a little more sense. I was wondering why he was so interested in Rey

    Exactly! I think they did an excellent job of going back and forth between the two also - the mega villain behind the mask and the insecure young man behind it.

    I don't think so. But I think if they added anymore hints beyond her mysteriously being left behind/her ability with the Force/her blink and you'll miss it flashback/her reaction to the lightsaber of her grandfather (yup Luke's Blue one was Anakin's) and Ren's reaction would mean that any of the shock they'll still get when it happens in VIII would be lost.

    I think it's masterfully done.

    Haha, I walked out thinking she was Luke's kid, so I would have completely missed the hints. I suspected Han's until he didn't recognise her, but Kylo being the one who dropped her off does make sense.

    If she does end up being a Skywalker, the parallels between her as good Anakin (Great pilot etc.) and Kylo as evil Anakin are just so so good.
