I read an article the other day about how anyone can be a good sports better, but what defines a successful one from one in debt is money management. Start betting the same amount of money for each event. They suggest 2% of your bankroll (though I suggest you couldn't go wrong with 1-5%). Keep that money as it is, like a business so as to speak and if you win about 55% of even bets (on average), you'll be ahead.

 

1k could be more than enough. That's $20 a bet. Fairly sufficient.

 

It'd increase exponentially, though, since it's 2% of what you have. After about 6 months, it'd get into the hundreds, a week.

Let's face it, with betting, you'd almost be happy to break even in the long term, it's definitely not a source of money unless you strike lucky on a multi.
