I reckon this could really help improve the comp so I thought that I'd start this early. 1. Up to date stats being kept. 2. I reckon that with how long the draft takes plus the database, we should have a full round robin between all 16 clubs rather than broken up into two divisions. 3. Home pitches. Let's bring in some tactics. What have the rest of you got?
Up to date stats will definitely be kept; I'm going to make a copy of the CricSim stats site and show Marcuss how to input scorecards, so it'll be just like CricSim on that front. That was going to happen this season but it didn't because I suddenly had more pressing matters to attend to (recreating 100 hours or so worth of programs, for example). I'd like to see bigger squads.. maybe even reserve grade.. and injuries.
Like all the suggestions thus far + keeping a core of your squad with everyone else going into the main draft. I like more players because as it stands we haven't really delved into first class cricketers who aren't, weren't or won't be international standard at a stretch. It's the one reason why it's a bit far fetched. Those who failed at test level would most probably be close to failing in a comp of this standard IMO.
How many players do you reckon should be kept? I'd like to propose than you can choose to keep anywhere between 0 and 7. The less players you keep, the more early draft picks you get. Teams wouldn't enter the draft as such until all the other teams had the same amount of players. For example in a comp that only had three teams in it, lets say.. Team A keeps 4 players Team B keeps 3 players Team C keeps 1 player The new draft would go: Team C Team C Team C Team B Team C Team B Team A etc etc So you'd basically be trading off your early picks to keep your players.
Yeah, is the method I proposed too. Would limit it to 6 players to retain though. Rounding down from half the current squads.
Wouldnt that punish people who picked up guns late on in the first CPL Say you picked someone whos turned out decent IRL now, in round 9 last time. And you wanted to keep him because he might go in round 6 this time and thats the only person you really want to keep. You essentially in the same position missing the first round as someone who wants to keep their first round player from last time. Proper example - Keeping Jonathan Trott shouldnt have the same consequences (missing picks until people have the same squad number) as keeping Kallis
I honestly would only keep 5 or 6 at a stretch of my current blokes. Besides Mendis, Watson, Prince, Jerome Taylor and Dussey, my other ****s really haven't performed. I'd probably keep Chris Rogers anyway if pressed I suppose. He's coming good.
