fuark I have made a killing on these late picks. Daniher, Thompson, Winderlich, Lynch, Shaw, Mitchell all in the last few. Reckon all would be considerable few rounds earlier if the draft were done now. Makes up for a few of the early jumps (Siposs, Henderson, Wright, Dawes, Brennan, Reilly perhaps even. Was a bargain at the time but now perhaps not)
I don't care what you think picking a bloke who's averaging what? 18 touches and 2 goals a game as a 22 year old w/ a 10 goal game is a steal in round 28. Shaw an underrated one. I've watched a lot of GC this year and he tails away late quite often but he's a really nice player. Runs hard, finds the ball - will be very good.

Dereks Reveal Captain Today, head coach of the new CPL Aussie Rules franchise, The Dereks, Siege Morgan fronted the media with an announcement of the leaders of the new franchise. The bookies had widely tipped the group to consist of Reilly, Sloane, Ball, Cassisi and Winderlich due to their top flight experience, with Luke Ball being the bookies favourite to be named captain. However, Morgan sprung a few surprises in announcing his leadership group, favouring youth. The first announcement was of the three blokes who will be members of the leadership group, and these were: Luke Ball, Jack Watts and Alex Rance. He then named the vice captain as Nathan Fyfe, and the captain of the club as the young Rory Sloane. Following this announcement, the odds for The Dereks to win the inaugural season of CPL fell from $3.75 to $5.00, clearing showing the disapproval of the punter. When asked what his best 22 looked like, Morgan, in Kevin Sheedy fashion, dropped a sheet with what he believes is his best 22 right now. However he has stated his team will be very experimental during the pre season, and certainly won't follow that. The 25 names: Code: FB: M. Shaw A. Rance A. Mullett HB: H. Hartlett R. Thompson R. Tom Jonas What would others advise/ Part of me knows that Watts just shouldn't be retained. Like I know it but I just want to so, so badly. I think it'd be absolutely idiotic given what round I'd be using on them not to retain Fyfe, Rockliff, Daniher, Thompson, MacRae, Mitchell, Lynch, Hickey and Jonas so that's 9 but unfortunately I can't retain all 4 of MacRae, Lynch, Mitchell and Hickey so who do I cut? Henderson, Swallow, Westhoff, Naitanui, Hartlett in that next group of blokes who I think offer reasonable value and are necessary building blocks that I'd be risking it waiting to nab in the draft. Sloane I think I'm gonna have to toss. Jumped the gun on him in the first place really and I'd have to drop a better player to get on him. Rance is a fucking gun but again if I take him I'd have to lose one of Swallow/Westhoff. Ebert's been so, so good this year so I'm almost contemplating dropping Hartlett for him right now. Watts is a tough one. Wright's been really good this year and Ball was a good selection at the time and still is but I'm not sure I can justify it. Henderson's back half of '13 was top 10 worthy but again, can I justify it? Whitfield's gonna be a gun but he doesn't offer an immediate boost to my team. Is it worth retaining him on potential alone? What I'm thinking right now is Out: Watts, Whitfield In: Laird, Wright/Ball/Henderson/Mullett/Neale/Shaw/Curren Perhaps out: Hartlett in: Ebert and out: Swallow in: Rance but I'm not sure. Would anyone have an opinion on who I should cut from Lynch/Hickey/MacRae/Mitchell too? I'm almost tempted to cut Hickey and retain Dawson Simpson or just test my luck out in the draft. Urgh, so tough. Need tips xo
I just got so unbelievably lucky between 20-34 Like I picked them all because I think they're excellent footballers (bar the ones I traded) and I rated them but I certainly didn't expect Mitchell/Hickey/MacRae/Laird etc. to go and become so good, nor did I expect Jonas to become a top 3-5 defensive minded SD in the comp (and one who can play tall too) and nor did I expect Lynch to kick 10 goals in a game like 2 weeks after I picked him. Daniher surpassed expectations too as I picked him pre-debut and he hit the ground really well for a young kpp. Thompson becoming a pretty bloody good KPD was pretty gun too. Picked him up after seeing him once play at fullback and thought it was worth the punt. Thank god it came through as I'd be fucked for KPDs otherwise. Goofed up a few selections between 10-20 but reckon I nailed nearly every single late selection and that's what's got me up there this season as half my 22 comes from outside the top 20 picks
